ASA bans gender ads in UK

I am really looking forward to this future where there will be no jokes, no laughter, no sarcasm, and nobody will be able to criticise anybody else, unless it is to scold them for breaking the rules set out by Big Brother. I cannot wait.

We are already past it. And that's not being negative. I'm generally an extremely positive person. But there's no point denying it. Nearly everything is turning - rather quickly - to utter shit.

Ironically I'd say the downturn began in the UK (though very slow at first and not noticeable for a few years, accelerating rapidly since) round about the time the song "Things can only get better" was politicised.

    Gaming addiction

Everything in moderation. I've started gaming again, after a hiatus of 10 years, when I was telling myself I was too 'grown up' to be doing something I actually enjoyed. I'm playing maybe half an hour to an hour a day after work. And I'm enjoying it. And fuck anyone who says I'm too old to be doing it - it's not like they spend their evenings composing great works of art or curing cancer. I do however get the impression that modern games are designed to suck up more time than the games of my youth 20 years back were.

They’ll still be golden, showing men doing housework (even incompetently) will be deemed to be breaking stereotypes rather than reinforcing them. This is just legally mandating everything SJWs would like advertising to be. For the first time in my life i’m Seriously considering emigrating. This country is becoming a police state run by lunatics at an unbelievable pace.

Now? Where have you been the last 3 years? Slightly shocked that you voted for Remain given your attitude to EE tax credit fiends.

OMG the bad man hurt my feelings

I think you just have a healthy scepticism. The murder might not have been orchestrated but the response to it certainly was. My response? Oh do fuck off. I can’t stand all this virtue signaling. It’s one of the reasons I like Facebook (the only one) in that I can then tell which of my acquaintances are stupid and easily led by the establishment. Sadly, it appears to be most of them.

    Brexit Betrayal thread

It is a deliberate pantomime May needs to be seen as attempting to address the issue before the actual vote on in Parliament on the deal. The idea is to put a loaded pistol to Parliaments head The problem for the other factions in Parliament is that while she probably has no chance of winning in Parliament neither do Remainers or Hard Brexiteers (though the latter may not care about that fact). I find the position of Tory Remainers hardest to fathom. If we don't have some sort of Brexit then Labour are nailed on to win the next General Election with either Corbyn or McDonnell at the helm. Who is going to vote for a party who called an EU Referendum, invoked article 50, passed legislation to withdraw from the EU and then simply gave up having achieved nothing. Not even a second Referendum with the public changing its mind on Leaving would protect them from that happening. Actually I don't understand Remainers opposition to May's BRINO deal at all. Even though the under UK will have left the EU it will still effectively control us in all material ways. All that crap about Remaining allowing us to influence EU decision making is such laughable tosh. It did not work for Cameron, it did not work for the Greeks and it is not working for the Italians. I can only assume they are either talking their book as they have some sort of vested financial interest in being full EU members or it is simply they can not get over the fact that the great unwashed had the temerity to defy them in 2016 and will not rest until they have overturned that result Personally my view is that if we don't get Brexit I am going to shift immediately to supporting the opposite extreme on all matters EU. I will want full Euro membership with all the accompanying rules on public debt The House of Commons can be reduced to the size of a District Council with powers and salaries to match. I will even back a an EU army with conscription for all millennials who can then look forward to spending their winters on the Russian front.

Massive outbreak of bedwetting and virtue signalling on twitter today: To be fair I also think Lilico is a bellend, but it's times like this that make me feel like I really must be a bit Aspie, as I just don't understand the outrage.

The more involved in dogs someone is, I've noticed the more they are lacking in risk awareness. Little angel syndrome or something, very odd. Having young kids around a Staff and then seeing it - shock horror - attack the kid, how often does this story have to be replayed. It's always a Staff and it's always some council estate trash sort

I'd happily see them shot alongside the shark on a leash that ate their kid. Dig deep enough into their soshul meedja and I'll bet good money there will be a picture of their dog lying next to the baby with some halfwitted caption along the lines of 'Aww, aren't they sweet. Bezzie mates 4 eva!' Gormless cunts.

I'm not sure. Last year we had the 2nd highest official non EU immigration numbers on record. And from what I see most appear to work for Uber or in the local kebab shop. That's if they work at all. And all this whilst the Tories in power. They haven't just failed to stop what that cunt Blair started - they appear to have actually accelerated it.

How dare men want women who are attractive and slim. Fucking patriarchy.

    Biodiesel?

It's important to understand the difference between biodiesel and straight vegetable oil. I'm not an expert so half expecting to be corrected here, but as I understand it biodiesel is vegetable oil that has been processed to remove the glycerides from it. This makes it pretty much functionally equivalent to dino diesel in terms of how well it flows, and burns in the engine- there may be a small difference in calorific value and hence max power / fuel efficiency, but it won't be much. However, the glycerides are removed by treating the veg oil with sodium hydroxide, then washing it. Some of that NaOH remains in the fuel and makes it alkaline, and that can damage seals in injection systems that are not designed for it. As far as I know, modern engines should have seals that are up to the task, so if you can find a place selling proper biodiesel for less than normal diesel you should be good to go, but do check. Straight veg oil obviously still has the glycerides in it, and they make it thicker in cold weather, which can lead to problems blowing seals due to overpressure, or simply solidifying enough in the fuel pipes enough to make the car run poorly or refuse to start. That's why people run twin tank systems and heat exchangers to pre-warm the fuel, so you can start on normal diesel and then switch over when the engine warms up. There's another problem to worry about though, and it's a fairly big one: the glycerides apparently don't burn all that well, and can form a layer of gum or varnish in the combustion chamber. On an old indirect injection engine, the fuel is injected into a pre-chamber, and so that doesn't generally cause a problem, though I guess over thousands of miles the layer of gum could get thick enough to cause issues. The problem arises with direct injection engines, where the diesel is injected straight into the cylinder. The layer of gum can get under the piston rings, and make them stick. That in turn can eventually result in the oil in the sump getting into the cylinder, causing an uncontrollable engine runaway until it all burns off and the engine seizes. There seem to be lots of people running VAG TDI engines on SVO with few if any problems reported, but I can't say I'm keen to try it myself. I guess if you run a mix of veg and pump diesel the detergents in the pump diesel might keep things clean enough that you never have a problem. Obviously if you're using veg oil that's been used for cooking instead of buying it fresh from the supermarket, you have the additional problem of bits of potato and batter floating around in it, plus I believe the heating causes it to thicken even more than fresh oil. At the very least, run it through a fine filter before sticking it in your car. I ran my old Mondeo indirect TD on increasingly strong mixes of veg oil for a summer, and it was basically fine, though it's not until you try it that you realise how much of a pain in the arse it is filling your tank from plastic bottles one litre at a time. It takes maybe 30 seconds to pump four gallons in at the filling station; that's 18 and a bit 1 litre bottles. The car started to misbehave a bit in October, so I went back to pump diesel. It never recovered, and I eventually had to replace the primer pump on top of the fuel filter- I had thought the filter had clogged, but it appeared absolutely fine when I changed it. It was a cheap part and apparently they all do that sir, so I don't know if the veg oil accelerated its failure. I got bored with the car before I had a chance to carry on the experiment the next summer. The car was basically worthless, so I wouldn't have really cared much if it had blown up, though now Mk1 Mondeos are increasingly rare I feel a bit guilty about having been so cavalier about it.

Two. First one - some other random poster - think it could have been hairy on the wind up - kept on posting pics of some naked porn star. I eventually - like many others - quoted them and stated they probably shouldn't be doing that. I got banned for "posting offensive pictures". What the actual fuck. I replied and asked how this as fair ? Zero response. Second one - stating private details of a poster. I posted details of a public twitter account - that was public - with public details of this person - they publicly showed to the entire world happily - with their full name present. Now technically I suppose the second one was correct. The first one - total bullshit. Anyway - worth it.

Everybody wants something from others. Everyone! I like the Eleanor Roosevelt? quote something like.... no one can make you feel inferior unless you allow them to. Personally I’ve learnt through my life experiences to have a good think about what people want from me and how my life is enhanced by allowing others into my personal sphere. I don’t regard myself as a user of other people because I seek kindred spirits for mutual pursuits. Sadly I’ve encountered many people in life who are only interested in themself. I’m of the opinion that rich, poor, partnered, alone, family, no family etc that life is not candy land for the majority of human beings or other animals. IMO I think it’s very hard to be a human being.
