JL has a place in the UK> Its unique structure means it can ride hadrtimes eaier than others.
However, I can see 30% of shops going, as the finsec decimation reaps thru its previous strongholds.

FGM in the UK is in a crazy state.  They can identify the victim whenever they interact with medicine, their teachers when older, their peers when even older (etc).  The perpetrators are obvious -- it'll nearly always be with parental consent, and in rare cases when it isn't they'd be complicit in knowing but not reporting it.  Yet nothing is done beyond a few words.

If the shop is still as busy as ever, it’s probably closing because the burden of rent/rates has become insurmountable with their pricing structure. Same reason McDonalds “flagship” London stores are wildly unprofitable.

“With addiction, it’s about the length of time between bet and result and the ability quickly to repeat the dose,” says Stewart Kenny, one of the founders of the Irish betting giant Paddy Power Betfair, who left the industry in 2016 because of his disquiet about online gaming. “If you buy a lottery ticket on Monday and the draw is on Thursday evening, that’s not going to get you hooked.”

A branch of my family splintered off ~100 years ago and became miners.
By the late 70s/early80s - some, only some, most had been laid off during the Labour gov in 70s - the ones still down the pit were well into the top 10% of earners. Combination of unions pay deals overtime, introduction of some plant that counted as modern i.e. not a pony with a trailer.
And  they were living with their mam n dad in an NCB house. In ~81ish, I had one cousin who was pulling in the equivalent to ~80k, living at home, paying his mam about ~50/m rent. If he'd lived cheaply - not frugally, just cheaply, from age 16 (when he started, 78ish) to say 25, and invested the money hed have been set for life.
    Spent it all. Cars, divorces.
    Unemployed by 1988/late 20s.

The papers alwys report his sort of fuckwittery as 'surgeons remove .. boobs, balls, wrong leg etc etc.
However ..... there dozens off staff involved in surgery. There should be a trees worth of paper and hopefully, someone writing on he organ to remove and hopefully, someone else signing off.
The NHS seriously needs to be writing on someones stomach or back or leg, what the operation is to remove. And a second person needs to sing off on the skin too.

There's a kid in mrs spys class. Reception, so 4/5.
The mother has moved the 3rd 'dad' in. Shes only known the new one for ~2 weeks. Police removed the last one, 2 weeks before.
These are the ones they know about, as a TA talks to her.
Theres probably a good few 'trials' brought back from spoons too.
Shes pulls in just under 2k/motn doing 16h at an old folks home.
Im going to get nagged for the numbers but its more likely to be millions than thousands.
Theres a whole sub-culture, built up around with single mums on TCs in social housing. And stream of useless, strange blokes flitting between them,  given the mum a few 100 rent, hitting the kids etc etc.
Its really why single parents hsould live in some sort of hostel. One, itll get the rent bill down a lot. Two, itll provide an extra pair of eye and structure. These people are not functional.

Shes not that unusual for the single mums.
