What? No you're not. (unless all your schoolfriends are now astronauts or whatever) Have you been looking at people's "perfect" lives on Facebook?
You know, until you wrote that I didn't think it mattered if you bought a house or not, now I think you need to. The process of taking the decision will be an achievement.

    Cheers - and It's now 23 days...!
Right now, it's difficult to answer that question - but forever would probably be in my best interests.

I did 3 months sober a few times, and every time I backslid into getting pissed every day within a couple of weeks of starting drinking again. My best mate can go weeks without a drink, and sometimes manages to just have a few glasses of wine at a work reception or whatever, but his drinking sessions more often end up with him sending me youtube vids and incoherent nonsense at 4am, which then obviously leads to a written off weekend. When non-addicts ask me why I'm completely teetotal I explain it thus: I've flipped a switch in my brain that means if I have one drink I'll feel desperate for another, and another, until I pass out; and it can't be flipped back.
I reckon you should commit to doing a year before you have a think about whether you want to drink again. My guess is that you won't, but you'll have much better idea either way than you would after 3 or 6 months. Meanwhile congratulations on making it this far,  I for one know how hard it is!

In my experience it's a synonym for 'gobshite'.
It's a title that people obtain when their obsession about a various topic crosses the line from passionate to overbearing and they then title themselves 'activist' as that sounds a lot better than 'pain in the fucking arse'.
    IMHO.

I really, really hope they're using all of the extra revenue from this tax to provide resources to help alcohol and other addicts and not to pay more bloodsuckers at Holyrood.

I think JD is doing very well regarding A).......decent job and free time at work to pursue interests, substantial savings, comfortable home with tech/guitar etc to pursue personal interests. Interested in nutritional food and home preparation, keeps fit and ventures further afield on weekend and longer excursions.
As for B).....if he wanted JD could pay for a shag. Perhaps he’d like more than that. IMO it’s getting harder for all age groups to meet a long term partner.

The problem is, there are sufficient French voters are gluttons for the next smooth talking charlatan.
How Macron cast himself as the new broom when he'd been at the very heart of the previous administration is beyond me. He had serious MSM backing though and the dream of being in a run off with Le Pen which is really yours to lose.

Well, they did vote the cunt out... the previous cunt (president François Hollande) that is.
Better than that, the two main parties that had shared the presidency since... forever... came 3rd and 4th in the last elections. It was a humiliation for them.
Unfortunately, while democracy makes it reasonably straightforward to vote a cunt out, it's not a very good system for choosing a non-cuntish new leader. Maybe we need to do like in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy where the president was the person who least wanted the job.

That's probably true for us all. Fucked if I can live with my missus while teetotal though.
I'm lucky in that true addiction is alien to me, the only thing I've ever wanted to repeat ad infinitum until I dropped was a pale Bahian mulatta!
Can you find a healthier addiction to replace it? (not a mulatta, that'd kill you at our age)

Well done, 21 days is a good stint, is the aim to be "dry" for a while or forever?
I don't find the forum depressing, though sometimes a bit repetitive. As an older bloke I probably repeat myself a lot now anyway. I might find the dosbods thread depressing if I was a young bloke lacking in confidence and hoping to meet a nice girl in the UK though!

I can be, but my alcoholism and clinical depression have made me weak.
Right now, 21 days and 3 and 3/4s of an hour after my last drink, I'm slowly getting my powers of reason back.
And quite frankly, when viewed in a sober manner, this forum is very depressing.
I'm off out for an hour on my push-bike to cheer myself up.
Why not start yet another bike thread for me to enjoy when I get back...?

A bit surprised that Iranian pharmaceutical companies manufacturing copies of medicines haven't sprung up in Iran. And other stuff that's affected by the sanctions. They've been in place on and off for so long now. I wouldn't expect that capability to emerge from shithole cultures that got placed under sanctions, but the Persians with their education system are another matter.

The manufacturers are there but they haven't got the capacity because a certain % of the market was met by imports.
There are plenty of Iranians how would happily set up manufacturing businesses there - the problem is the amount of 'parasites' you have to carry.

That will only be the case if she really doesn't enjoy it, because as you say, Jesus is watching, and one of a wife's Christian duties is to please her husband and herself in bed to maintain the marital bond. Same with all wives, Christian or otherwise, that won't shag their husbands IMO, it basically means they never enjoyed it that much in the first place, so either the man is crap or there are other issues, like maybe letting her dominate in areas where  you should not.
As a man in his 30s, you should have an idea by now if you're crap in bed or not, no need to answer that here. (hint - watch what the women do not what they say), if you think you might be, PM @The Idiocrat , he seems to specialise in technical issues. The real point is that a Christian girl might well be a hot wife, perhaps less skilled than the mad slut type due to less experience but still hot and keen.

That's exactly right. They want to impose the same shite on the Swiss - May's "deal" which is a bit of a misnomer really, it's a capitulation on pretty much everything except free movement of people, has caused the EU to want to tear up the bilateral accords with Switzerland that have been in place for years.
However the Swiss know that the social model their country is based on is threatened by what amounts to an attempted political coup, they'd rather get a bit poorer and if the CHF exchange rates come down a bit as a consequence, all the better. At least, I hope that's how they'll vote.

Yes the EU hates Switzerland because it's democratic, slightly nationalist, does better for it's people than they could ever do and sits there showing them up for what they are. They've worked out that the Swiss having individual bi-lateral accords allows them some wriggle room and stops the EU playing off one country against the other to gain more dominance.
It's a bit like the fat ugly incompetent woman at work, slightly senior to her attractive likeable competent colleague, she hates her but has to find ways of persecuting her that can be presented as reasonable.
Edit :- But the Swiss aren't going to play, I don't think. One of the good things about recent years is that the EU is exposed for what it is now, few people have any illusions left. I know pro-EU leftyish Swiss who are absolutely against conceding to the EU on this.
