    Today's figures for comparison:
    Gold USD +0.2% [goldprice.org]
    Gold GBP +0.33% [goldprice.org]
    Silver USD +0.33% [goldprice.org]
    Silver GBP +0.21% [goldprice.org]
    For reference, GBPUSD -0.18%
iShares Physical Gold ETC [unhedged, GBP-denominated] up 0.96% (!?!?!? - should be same as gold GBP!)
    Endeavour +1.46% [USDCAD +0.19%]
    Harmony +6.71%
    Sibanye +3.31%
Obviously, there's more to it than pure metal pricing, but it's amplified even in this subdued market. Works downwards too, hence trying to catch the bottom!
[EDIT] the first four don't even make sense in terms of a USD-denominated commodity in GBP, but that's what it says... Sometimes you get odd exchange rates on market/exchange. I've taken advantage of Bitstamp's ropey EURUSD rates before, and managed to make a (tiny) profit when I shouldn't have after fees at spot. I'm not going down the arbitrage route though; I think that way madness lies with my kind of mind.

Im struggling to find anything on cannabis stocks other than:
HNR - shale oil company that has "branched" out into cannabis production, I hold a small amount of these (a mistake on my part, chalked up to a lesson learned) and am waiting for a jump up to sell out.
    HASH - https://www.hl.co.uk/shares/shares-search-results/h/high-growth-capital-plc-ord-0.1p
    SATI - https://www.hl.co.uk/shares/shares-search-results/s/sativa-investments-ord
All three look risky (too risky?), are there other less risky options out there for cannabis stocks that I cant find?
Could it be a GSK type of company and Im not looking at the bigger picture?
    TIA

Penny stocks are not for the faint hearted but the gains can be a world away from what you'd make with bluechips.
So long as you pick 2 out of 3 winners (or 1 out of 3 if it multibags) then outside of large regular contributions it's the only way to stand a chance of having a decent pot.
For the past two years I've switched to FTSE divi payers prior to that I made a small fortune on SLP and IQE with my loser being WTI (at one point I was sitting on a paper profit of £30,000 eventually closing out for £1,500 and losing £8,500 in the process). These speculative investments were always going to be over 5 years and with the income stream I've picked 5 minnows that I'm building stakes in alongside my Uranium investments, collectively I hope they'll represent at least 15% of the portfolio during the build with the *potential to offer large capital gains.
    *potential not promise.
I'm going to make a small punt on HNR as well now 🙃

It doesn't seem like the current bunch in the Parliament has one, which is why they need replacing. The question you're posing is one for the MPs to answer. They asked for instructions and were given one, now it's up to them to carry it out or make room for someone who will.
This mess we're seeing does not stem from the referendum result but from the reluctance to accept and enact it. If I tell my kids to make their beds and instead they get into a pillow fight, the resulting mess is the result of their defiant actions, not my instruction.

This website is interesting, it gives an indicator of whether to buy or sell. I've only just found this option - so it just gives another opinion. Give it a try!

    Thank you for the mentions.
Every 1-3 years there is a big trend you should look out for, and using a mechanical system, pyramiding as the trade goes your way without leverage, and looking at round numbers, you "should" be able to get something out of the market. You have to pay the tuition fee to the market first to learn (this is variable for each player).
This can mean waiting for a long time for a trend to appear - On my long blog type thread, at the start of it we saw the tail end of the growth of the growth stocks - BOO, PURP etc. Then along came the Bitcoin run, and we saw how Litecoin trebled.
Notable trends - Debtfree direct and the other CVA type stocks on the ToS, Junior miners such as AGQ (during the Jim Rogers Years), Gold (the metal $500--> $1400), The UK Growth Stocks FEVR, BOO, G4M etc.
My biggest regrets of selling too early - Medusa mining went from 20p to something like £4, Asos went from under 10p to £80 (but I am not into fashion, so I can't dwell on that)
Failures - TLW (oil), FRES (Silver) No trend happened in oil (as yet), and it's still early days for a bull market in gold and silver, although we are due for a new cycle. Blockchain stocks - they tried to catch the Bitcoin wave, but the train had already departed.

I doubt Tusk meant it in a genuinely religious way.
It's an odd turn of phrase though. Imagine if he said 'there's a special place reserved in hell for those Islamic terrorists who tortured and killed innocent people at Bataclan'.
Impossible to imagine such a thing. His career would be over instantly.
Yet, it is considered perfectly acceptable to say such a thing about people who exercised their democratic right to request their country leave a political union.

So to reiterate, this is my interpretation of the Bear market. The NASDAQ is a good global barometer for equities across the west. So, yeah if this is bearish, don't expect to find many winners in the UK. Also it is probably worth avoiding being heavily invested in growth stocks (no matter how compelling the fundamentals) during bear markets. So we need to clear 8,000 points on the NASDAQ before we are anywhere close to being at the end of the bear market. Gold has been a beneficiary since the start of the bear market.

I got a week old "big turbo" Escort Cosworth for less than half list price as the guy who'd ordered it was quoted £17k for insurance back in 1992.
My insurance was £1200 as I had full no claims, a clean licence, a garage and another car for daily use.
I didn't like the car and eventually traded it for an Integrale.

I wonder if insurance companies will start upping the premiums on the highest risk cars to the point where it starts to impact sales.
It was before my time but isn't that what happened to ford cosworths?

I have decided that I will be filling in my W-8 form and investing mainly in US stocks. The UK stock universe looks like a shit show to me with many of the stocks lacking the big Q. Big dividend yields on declining stock values is not my idea of fun. Also I have worked here for decades so am well aware of how unproductive UK companies can be.
The US tech sector is getting hammered recently so I am interested to watch it with a view to getting in on the cheap (and hope that the aggressive growth continues in the future! Thought I would create this topic for FANG stock but also Microsoft, Nvidia, AMD, Alibaba, Micron etc. Simply put, QUALITY stock with aggressive growth prospects and a good potential entry for a noob investor.
    Any thoughts, charts, ideas, appreciated.

The stock markets aren't looking too good this month.
The elevated VIX suggest to delay purchases for a little while until it settles down. (Do your own research)
