It won’t translate to seats though as the marginals won’t bear out these figures. I’ve coincidentally got the day after the election off so will be staying up for it - going to be a very interesting night.

Come next summer I shall have been with my current employer 10 years - the longest I’ve ever been with the same employer. My life has been relatively linear, school,, first job, better job (evening college), more money, better job, child, etc. I’m now in my earlier 50’s and thanks to some reasonably good financial decisions a few years ago and luck I’ve found myself in a position where I could stop work. I may do so and am contemplating a return to education - I fancy studying purely for pleasure, so possibly history. Then maybe a return to work - not sure doing what. I don’t think I could contemplate conventional retirement, I think it rots the brain.

You get that on a Sunday.  All that's working the shift is one junior journalist who has to file six stories on their shift and is allowed to take a couple from other local papers to make up their quota.
This one is obvioulsy interested in turkeys.

I just think it means employers will double down on not recruiting women of child bearing age, combine that with the proposal to offer flexible working to the menopausal and women will only be employed once they hit 60, oh and then be discriminated against for being too old.

I can only think of one couple who I believe have enjoyed a long term and contented marriage. They met at uni, lived in various places in the uk and eu due to him being in the army. She was a teacher. Both retired now in their mid to late sixties. Both lovely people and seem to help each other through life. They have a son who was struck down suddenly in his mid twenties by illness and is now disabled. They’re currently working together along with son to get him in his own home and independent. They’re very interesting people too with lots of interesting tales to tell about e.g. day to day life in Germany, remote Scottish islands. I’ve never detected any slagging each other off at all from this couple.
Various other couples I know seem to get on well and are interesting folk too but they always slag each other off.....jokingly.
Some long term couples I have encountered were so toxic and bitter towards each other I dropped them. My own life has its problems and I have no desire to be drawn into anyone else’s negativity.

I watched the original 3 films a couple of years ago for the first time - thought Luke was an annoying little shit but apart from that they were quite entertaining. I liked Rogue One but the rest of them I couldn’t be bothered with.

You can also transfer assets to a spouse so they can utilise their CGT allowance. Mr Dipsy and I have done this a few times. Well worth the cost of a cheap registry office wedding given we’ve been together for decades.
