Smug liberals were always smirking about Dubya's language slips, never did him any harm come election time.

When I couldn't pronounce the name of some burger in a fast-food joint in Memphis, the server said "A wuh?",  pissed herself at my second attempt (to the extent that she had to get her colleague "Shawanda", who also pissed herself at my third attempt).
A few minutes later, whilst we were eating she asked "Hey, you guys ever heard of Michael Jackson?"
I said "of course" and she went "Damn! You just cost me five dollars!"
    Mental, but a great experience.

@MrPin would know about motorcycles specifically.
The huge rise in prices in ordinary models seems to be driven by the ready availability of finance deals meaning that very few individuals actually pay those prices; instead they sign up for three or four years of monthly payments.
Job insecurity is going to reduce the number of people to whom those deals are available and increase the number of price reductions / trade ins for outright buyers.
I can't see a crash in such prices but I can see some reductions via deals.
I don't know why sterling in particular would tank as all the big economies are fairly similar in their debt / GDP ratio.

My big disappointment was some year slater living near the Wychwood brewery but finding all of its beers so sweet that they were almost, for me, undrinkable.
Shame as I thought their marketing was brilliant and they were in all the local pubs.

I think the governments policy was all wrong from the beginning.....they should have evacuated all the OAPs to the IOW and let the rest of us have a normal life! :-)

You need to transfer the DB pensions before they legislate this as it will smash down transfer values.

How many are DB these days?  SFA outside the public / quasi public sectors.
This is public sector workers / pensioners finally sharing some pain of the private sector workers.
That said as one of those in the public / quasi public sector for the last decade and a half, as well being in the right place to get DB in the private sector for one job, well over half my pensions are DB so I may be having my retirement event in 2030 and transferring everything into my SIPP.

I don't think he understands the meaning of the word "work".
It reminds me of the analogy of the celebrity telethon: a person with a thousand fridges crammed with Mars Bars tries to convince lots of people with two Mars Bars to give one of them away.

Frank Hovis reacted to Myco in No new petrol/diesel cars from 2030
Electric cars are just not possible with our current infrastructure and are incredibly expensive to keep running compared to Ice cars.

Our cost of electricity is around half the these examples in the video below, but we can already see the increased taxes coming for electric cars, through indirect taxation such as 'cost per mile driven' as has been mentioned recently or just increased tax take on electricity in general, they have a massive gap to make up from highly taxed fuel changing into lower taxed electricity.

10 Miles on average 'burnt' every night just to keep the car alive.
10 Miles burnt every time you want to drive and not be freezing. This is also required if you want to drive more than 20 miles or so, as the reduced efficiency from the batteries being cold will mean you end up 'burning' even more miles over your jouney and be cold to top it off.

Over 40m cars on the road in the UK last stat I saw.

    400,000,000 miles 'burnt' every single night * £0.05 = £20,000,000
A tiny £7.3 Billion per year.
That's at these currently low price and low taxed electricity rates we have too.

Check out all the servicing work sheets he has too.. I bet people are looking forward to these cars coming out of warranty..

I like very few Southern beers - most taste horrible - tending to go for brown bittery beers.
    With one exception -Summer Lightening.
I like it. One of my brothers cannot drink it.

Did the lockdown not work?  If not, why are we having another?

Have the same experience, Fullers on the whole are great, Youngs pretty much undrinkable for me.
I suppose from one point of view if you have a bit of an underlying signature taste then if ordering one you don't know you expect to like it, but goes the other way I can almost be sure I won't enjoy a pint of Youngs whatever it is.

Tbh I think it's because both places have so many retired people who are happy not doing much during the various lockdowns meaning that overall social contact is that much lower.

    Funny how we're all different.
In my City days the two big London brewers were Fuller's and Young's.
I liked the ethos of both, traditional London brewers, and their pubs.
Yet I loved every single Fuller's beer whilst finding Young's like drinking medicine; I tried them all and I think it was only the oatmeal stout with which I found reasonable.

@Frank Hovis is now a free man.
Apparently here in Kent we are going into Tier 3, I have no idea what that means or when it 'ends' but it looks like pubs will stay shut, which is my only concern.
