Though not that great an actress though.
The father always gave the impression he was simply going through the motions "I daresay".
I asked for it one birthday when the DVD came out; it wasn't as good as I remembered it.
"Children of the Stones" (not an Alan Garner) is good and in a smiliar vein.
Elidor is excellent with the twin baffling exceptions of the hunter who just goes "Ha" rather than speaks (I read that he was a medieval weapons trainer rather than an actor which would explain it)

and his monkey like sidekick who is entirely mute.

The stone of Gronw actually exists:

And the whole story is a slightly altered extract from the Mabinogion tale of Llew Llaw Gyffes.

Is it me or are others getting sick of his blatant hypocrisy?....
“At first there was a knee-jerk, shocked reaction,” he said. “But for so long some people have been happy and comfortable with how things are, when it doesn’t really affect them. I have a responsibility as a person of colour. I’ve got a niece and nephew who are growing up biracial and I don’t want them to experience what I experienced. I have this voice, this platform, and it’s not for personal use — it’s for trying to gain traction and push for change.”
This is the guy that lectures us about the environment but uses a private jet (I'm not going to mention about his day job), talks about fighting inequality yet shames his own nephew on social media for his 'dress' sense (have you seen LHs range of clothes!) and races in countries where homosexuality is illegal/allows victimization without recourse (i.e. Sochi), and 'takes the knee' for BLM yet races in the Gulf states (take your pick) that systematically abuse and exploit non-Caucasian migrant workers.
I used to respect LH but now every time he moralises via his soundbites he goes down that little bit further in my estimation....if you are going to use your position to further causes at least have the integrity to 'practice what you preach!'

Stop it at the first sentence and yes.
No immigrants are ever welcomed by the ordinary person because they incrementally make their lives worse: lower pay, costlier housing, more overcrowding generally.
There isn't any need to bring into it perjorative terms; nobody wants a stranger to move into their house because that means less space and access to facilities for them and immigration into a nation is simply that on a bigger scale.

Try telling that to the Native American indians.   I would suspect that they might have a different view.
I would agree that the Irish and post war poles have settled well. I wonder why they have fitted in well ?
I would suggest that a lot of first generation immigrants used to do well - I suspect that generally they were grateful to be allowed to settle here - the next generation seem to have failed... The notable exceptions to this being the Chinese and Indians - these groups have done very well.
    In order of success;-
    Chinese
    Indians
    Pakistanis/West Indians
Does anybody think that the IQ of these incomers may follow a similar pattern ?

    Okay.
I have yet to meet any who think that but have already noted that everyone I know is well aware that it means that the jackpot rolls down so only buy a ticket on that one for the Lotto.
In addition they buy specials when those happen - such as additional UK millionaires on the Euromillions.
This isn't me projecting; though I accept that it could be through my influence that they are doing this.

Way back I worked with somebody who was eccentric verging on mad and who had an interesting life.
One day he received a letter from the Canadian lottery with a cheque saying he'd won.  This was plausible as he had friends in Canada and they bought tickets for him and vice versa.
Came in, straight up to the MD and told him to stick his job.  Came round to announce drinks on him down the pub from four.
During the day his mate the security guard, they were both about sixty, asked if he could have a look at the cheque because he wasn't convinced.
Turned out it was "look what you could win".
The MD didn't let him come back.

I worked in the Middle East. The understanding is that you do your job and then fuck off afterwards. There is no getting citizenship and complaining because the locals dont like you.

Priti Patel was rightly furious at the continuing interference of campaigning lawyers, and accused Labour MPs of “re-traumatising” victims of rape and other evil crimes. 70 MPs had signed a letter organised by Clive Lewis calling for the flight to be delayed, names included the usual loony left; Jeremy Corbyn, John McDonnell, Diane Abbott, Bell Ribeiro-Addy, Kate Osamor, Claudia Webbe and Dawn Butler. The letter claimed:

More here on this attention-seeking loon.
I would like to know how exactly are Trans, queer and non-binary people a gift to this world, as claimed by his, er, wife? (who is a decent-looking burd but presumably even more of a woke loon than most actresses) I am of the world - what gift have I received through them existing, apart from paying taxes when I was in the UK for their incredibly expensive gender re-assignment surgeries on the NHS?
I don't mind them existing - just STFU, get on with your lunacy and stop proclaiming how marvellous you are! You are no more or less a gift to the world than any other fucker.

Women and girls are always the preferred victims of these attacks.
It's not just that they're less likely to present a physical challenge; it seems to be something deeper within islamic fundamentalism.
The most grotesque tortures at the Luxor massacre were perpetrated upon the women when all the tourists, men and women, were captive and helpless.
Women were deliberately targeted in this attack.
I suspect that because fundamentalist islam forces women into domestic and sexual servitude that seeing them walking around independent and unaccompanied especially enrages the islamic fundamentalist.

Personally I am primarily in stocks.  Whilst past performance is no guide etc. I don't think they can be beaten long term.  Government prints and they naturally keep pace and over time comfortably outstrip that inflation.  They are particularly high at the moment because interest rates are very low that borrowing is extremely cheap but I don't see that changing any time soon.
When you look long term I don't regard gold as a gamble - it will keep pace with inflation and maintain its purchasing power so it keeps you where you are.  That is a safe haven with the added benefit of avoiding being taken into account for means testing if it's physical and purchased discreetly over time. I think it's worth holding some but the lack of return or the long term ability to do any more than track inflation means that I wouldn't ever hold a lot of it.
Of course you are correct about straight cash - again no gamble there as you will just slowly lose purchasing power - and about property though as I noted upthread buying just the one house in which to live is a tremendous investment.
I can't find my usual chart but here's a similar one.  US markets, inflation adjusted, and the performance of stocks so outstrips bonds (and gold though it isn't on this chart) that the y axis has to be logarithmic.

Local radio news and The Sun are reporting that he is not interested and the BBC should take him off the list. He says fans shouldn't vote for him as doesn't need validation because he already is the people's champion...! Gotta love the gypsy king...
