Assuming the rest of the universe behaves like our small patch, I would expect to see alien NGO spaceships lined up near the moon to pick up 'refugees' and ferry them to their own star systems.

It is odd that global population control, which was a major topic of concern in the 50s and 60s, seems to have totally fallen out of public debate, whereas ecological issues (and scaremongering) are never out of the news. Yet the two are very closely linked.
My guess is that modern people shy away from this issue because a. they know it's mostly brown populations that are growing, and they daren't risk being seen as racist by mentioning it (some probably welcome it as well, as part of their desire for cultural self-annihilation) b. they want populations to carry on growing to continue the ponzi scheme of perpetual growth in the economy, pensions, etc.

Tbh, every single environmental problem could be largely solved by reducing the human population. Yet it seems one of those topics that no one touches with a barge pole.

I actually think a lot of it is just ignorance, and not 'connecting the dots'.  For example, nobody under 50 or so who lives in London or any major British city will have ever known it to be anything other than multi-cultural, so they have no sense of things changing. A rapid increase in the Muslim population, in demographic terms, means very little to them. It's like having a few more olives rather than bits of boiled egg in a salad nicoise, but it's still a delicious, beautifully mixed dish to them. What they can't grasp is if the olives eventually outnumber the eggs and all the other bits, it won't be quite as nice or as tasty.

Let's face it you will be ok if you haven't been in the UK very long when you reach pension age. The only relevance is if you have private pension arrangements or savings with regard to the state pension forecast. Which is probably why we had to close the EU drawbridge sharpish because the pension liabilities would be horrific within twenty years time or so when the access level jobbers get to pension age on minimum income guarantee, disability, free rent and not to mention 100k council tower refurbs per unit.

I’ve only ever signed on once back in 1993 after my first child was born. No tax credits, childcare etc back then and I was looking for part time work to supplement the family income due to redundancy from my job.
I resolved after that experience to never do it again. They treated me like a piece of shit!
I’m still managing to pay my NI but if I never pay anymore I’m in the fortunate position now that I know I’ll manage.
What annoys me though when I look about my town is seeing the fuckers who have never worked for years and thinking....Oh no sweat for you pal....full state pension is yours. Life will be no different for them. Rent paid, new car every three years, glasses etc and money arriving in their bank account every week, fortnight or whatever!

more seriously, hell no, although I do like to cogitate on the bullets I've dodged.
i have tried to look up a couple of the ones who got away, though, but always to no avail. Maybe they were always figments of my imagination. Or maybe they're under dadvig s patio?

This was the leader in the Figaro by Guillaume Roquette, The Editor, it talks about French State TV but I thought the parallels were interesting

A colleague of the wife has fostered a 14 year old congolese orphan. My wife was looking at the photos - the little boy had grey hair and wrinkles, more like 34 she reckons. The colleague was widely mocked for having such an elderly orphan under his roof but he just shrugged his shoulders.
