No sue how legal these are. Surely the fall foul of consumer credit laws.

Ive seen these before but usually for some 2up/2down terrace in Ull and he like.

The price is, err, a bit eye brow raising.

Where on earth would they find a lo of foreigners in Cambridgeshire ...

Tories are on the house price inflation strategy! pumping continues!

Boris Johnson, the prime minister, has proposed a plan to overhaul the whole stamp duty system yet again. Reports suggest that Johnson plans to drastically raise the threshold for paying stamp duty from its current level of £125,000 to £500,000 at the same time as lowering the top rate from 12pc to 7pc.

I have no problem with this. One is taxed heavily on income. To have to pay such an punitive sum for buying a home, it's another kick in the balls.

There's stamp duty on shares as well.

Only problem is the 13.5 billion estimated shortfall to the tax man, what police, school, road, hospital, social care budget do they get that from? and this unfortunately is being used as yet another prop for the failing housing market..

What will they do next if this does not kick start the madness?

Not really. If you are an average Joe buying your first house you will pay very little. This is a tax on second steppers, using their HPI to buy a bigger house. It is, in reality, paid from the gains from the first house. Capital gains tax on property by the back door.

Disagree. £2500 for a young couple is a lot of money considering they're stretched at every point. If we stayed in Hampshire and bought a house we would have wanted, even with with FTB incentive we would have been looking at £10k in stamp duty. Ultimately was another reason for us not buy there.

Plus you have all the boomers staying in their oversized homes with no family as they have to cough off so will just stay put.

Yes of course there are some who will benefit from their hpi, such is life. Imo though overall it's a regressive tax and needs overhauling.

Oh yes those services are running extremely efficiently. They need even more funding before they consider having a shake up. They should increase NI and council tax to meet the need... Oh yeah they keep doing that 😂
