why did French cars have yellow headlamps, but now they don't?

imposed during the war to identify French vehicles. The yellow lights, because they filter other wavelengths, actually light less well then white lamps - its fizziks innit?

Of course, ask any remainer and they'll tell you they are the best idea since slided bread and the UK should adopt them.

Brits used to block out the headlights entirely.

And they stopped using them 'cos of the EU (harmonisation).

BTW out of curiosity I just googled it - they haven't banned yellow headlamps, they just allowed either color. So manufacturers of course just produce one type of lamp for all markets.
