I went there nearly 30 years ago when it was still a village- it's a beautiful spot.

However it's madness bordering on criminal to book holidays in the region now.

Probably best to avoid anywhere where Google maps has the name in Arabic under the English name.

Apparently the victims are Serbs, Poles and Ukrainians.

Eastern europeans always have taken up the slack somewhat when tourist spots were vacated by western tourists being somewhat more price conscious.

Other only slightly related fact Poland has taken in over 1,000,000 Ukrainians the last few years (never heard a peep about that before), Germany 150.

Maybe I'd like to go to Ukraine?

Funnily enough Ukraine does have a genuine and extremely powerful neo-Nazi movement who are perfectly OK with bombarding residential areas of towns, locking hundreds of people in buildings and then burning them down or holding massive marches honouring Nazi Germany collaborator Stepan Bandera.

For some reason though, the incredibly dishonest BBC barely even mentions that though. I wonder why.

So does East Germany.

Denier of islamist terror atrocities targeting western holidaymakers on plane and beaches?

Hurghada has suffered a terrorist knife attack on tourists before and a plane full of russian holidaymakers was blown out of the sky after leaving sharm el sheikh

Also multiple islamist attacks around the Pyramids (mostly on police)

And the Luxor murder of a coach load of european tourists, executed beside their coach (albeit going back a few years now)

By the way there is a travel warning in place for sharm el sheikh and no travel insurance is valid there as well as no british consulate assistance. This was put in place after the massive RAF escorted airlift to evacuate brits in winter 2015/16

but yeah it's ok.

If you worry too much you would never get out of the front door.

I'm not worried i just want to see these places go under B|

The deaths of many brits / europeans & russians means my tourist dollar is firmly withdrawn from these countries

Happened in the north of the Sinai. Sounds dreadful.

Just a heads up - today is 2 years since the Bataclan attacks in Paris. November 13th, 2015. Bloody. Murderous. Horrible. Almost forgotten.
What has been forgotten is the football match between Germany and Holland, 2 days after Bataclan, supposedly as a "symbol of freedom" in memory of the Bataclan and which was due to be attended by Merkel, the German vice-chancellor and several German ministers, that had to be cancelled due to a terrorist threat.
According to a French intelligence dossier five bombings had been prepared to be detonated at or around the stadium by a named five-member terror cell in a series of coordinated bomb attacks.German authorities refused to give more details on findings with the Interior Minister claiming that "some of these answers would alarm the public.".
German police claimed to not have found any explosives but German newspapers published allegations of a cover-up, which claimed that a paramedic had witnessed explosives hidden in an ambulance at the stadium, before being told by special forces at the scene "to not talk about it.". Another newspaper claimed it had been a truck bomb disguised as an ambulance.
Three police officers were disciplined for leaking information about alleged bomb finds.
No one - no suspected terrorist - was ever arrested or charged.
      Be careful this week.

German police has said that they have arrested a 19 year old Syrian who was in the final stages of preparing a terrorist attack.
Feck - they can say terrorist before it happens but when people are murdered by being run over, stabbed or their throats slit then the German police go into complete denial mode.
