The cost of this must be immense for what seems an open and shut case: drunk bloke unable to make it home crashes out in a big bin, bin driver ignores procedure about checking for extra weight and takes it anyway, bloke crushed and ends up in the tip.

Tragic but not in much doubt.

All a bit strange, seems to be Police incompetence but don't understand why they so readily ignored the evidence just because the waste co said the weight wasn't right for anyone to be in there. I've had these sorts of skips from every waste co going and there has never been much monitoring of the weight despite on board weighers. The drivers do rarely check in the skips because it defeats the object of the automated emptying really. Probably wouldn't be too difficult to devise some sort of infra-red camera type system to avoid it.

It's been going on so long now that it's easy to forget that he went missing not long after the attempted abductions from RAF Marham, yet nothing much ever seemed to be made of that angle. As per usual, the behaviour of the parents and their social media "supporters" is beyond weird. Technically he is merely AWOL, not missing, yet the military police seem to be leaving it all to the civilians. Not to mention the guy sounds like a proper arsehole who likely would have put other's backs up easily and frequently.

File under don't really care.

What is it with parents & family members running to the media and threatening court action, and even taking illegal actions or issuing threats?

The mother (a policewoman) is threatening a high court injuction to force the police & landfill owners to prevent the excavted search area from being refilled

And now the father has threatened to block the landfill entrance with his camper van, and now he has actually gone and done that.

I loose all sympathy when people run to the media to try and control the narrative of "their terrible story" these people think they are hoodwinking the public or something.

Making caluculated attempts to influence public opinion via the media.

I recall the story of the Cheeki Raffiki yacht that lost it's keel in the atlantic

The US coastguard called off the search after 48hrs because it was not possible for the crew to have survived in the sea conditions, then we had to be subjected to wailing and teeth gnashing from the family to the media who even got david cameron involved to brow beat and shame the US coastguard into restarting the search (putting the aircrews lives at risk) for nothing as they were all dead within minutes.
