Wetherspoons are aiming for some time in June, subsequent to the government lifting lock down restrictions.

I'm not so sure, I think they will be last to open after everything else and we will be looking into the autumn :CryBaby:.

What are the thoughts of the hive mind?

Someone was telling me Christmas. I guess that certain sections of the community don’t like them. o.O

There are quite a few possibilities on this. People might just start arranging pop up pubs in various outdoor places over summer, causing litter, noise, and various other nuisances...the pressure might grow to open pubs just to give them somewhere to go. Loads of people on craft beer forums have talked about the huge stashes they are building up..

A more controlled opening could see people asked to nominate one pub to visit, hopefully their local. This would limit socialising across and between different groups. Maybe even closing toilets in pubs to make people choose their local...

Another way would be to say over-60s only before 4pm. Under-60s only after 5pm with an enforced hour for cleaning.

I'm preparing for option one :)

The government will be wary of teasing the public

So, If pubs are to reopen I reckon it will have to be before the height of summer, otherwise they will open for too short a time before we head into autumn and the second wave hits and the second lockdown takes place.

A short period would tease' too much and be too difficult for the public to accept and make resistance to the second lockdown harder to overcome

So, if pubs can't reopen before the summer, my guess is they won't reopen at all.

I think you mean Mormons. Used to work with a JW, who certainly liked beer. Easy to confuse I guess, er, maybe?

I've just noticed the Jaipur tin with the earliest best before date is on the bottom row, middle column, nearest the back. Schoolboy error to not put them in by date order.

Very 1984.

My head of sixth form always said if I didn't end up working for the security services, they would probably end up having a comprehensive file on me.

Ended up more likely being the latter.

Subversive Enemy of The State me :)

MSM is reporting about home made masks in supermarkets and public transport. Wee Krankie also said that in her weekly speech to the nation. Westminster also considering masks when mixing.

If wearing home made masks is advised by government for supermarkets, shops and public transport there is no chance of pubs, cafes restaurants opening until that measure is relaxed.

That's bollocks.

If Muslim women in a Burkah can eat a Mr Whippy 99 with raspberry sauce I can definitely drink a Guinness in Spoons whilst wearing a Marvel Superhero face mask.

Did anyone else read this thread title as "pubes" not "pubs" and think.. "Oh no, XYYs up to his old tricks again..."

No. But you have my sympathies, you've clearly been badly traumatized. Do you sit in a corner rocking back and forth muttering "That fookin saggy arse, I can't stop seeing it" ?
