I think time of year has helped them. This came at the end of their summer so the populations Vit D status would have been at its highest. Contrast that with spring for the Northern hemisphere

Even their urban centres are no where near as densely packed as Europes. You could out the entire pop of Australia into greater Sydney and have to double it to get anywhere near London (other Euro city) pop density.

Shut down borders earlier and shut down interstate travel.

another island - Iceland

although their cases per capita was high, so was their testing per capita. 10 deaths from 1802 cases. A pretty good set of stats I'd say, they tested 57k out of 340K population.

not bad for a country that went bust a decade ago.

Very high vitamin D supplement use in Iceland -- IIRC it is something like 5% of the population is vitD deficient in late winter (cw about 100% deficient at that point in the UK)

Very interesint - so Vit D regularly tested and monitored by the Icelandic health service?

Nice to see a health service actually do something to enable health!

Never understood this population density business. 90% of Australians live in cities, shouldn't we be comparing cities of equal population density rather than entire countries with huge swathes of land with nothing on? You can fit Europe into Australia's landmass about 5 times or something stupid.

Don't even suggest it or some politician will try it.

London has 5,518 people per square kilometer, Sydney has 415.

yes, but most the land is largely uninhabited, just a narrow coastline strip is where most live?

Indeed, but that's why I said like for like. A good example might be Sydney and Manchester, I don't know.

Even Brighton has nearly double the population density.

When all is said and done are we not just going to see a direct correlation between population density and cases/deaths?

Even in the US it looks like the overall data might be completely skewed by New York.

Massive urban sprawl Sydney. Manchester's much more compact.
