Anyone know any scriptwriters?

Somewhere I go for a walk quite often has a fantastic history.

Given the current trend for Victorian / Georgian period drama, this story is begging to be told...

And to top it all, the caddie went on to win the first ever US open.

The golf makes it far too niche, so I doubt it would sell.

Can I write him as a black woman who went on to become world heavyweight boxing champion... 🥊

It isn't about the golf. It is about the lifestyle of the idle rich in the times. Yachts, parties, Jeeves and Wooster, the Royals and Osborn House. The golf course is just the canvas on which to paint the scene.

And Happy Gilmour did ok!

Stop it. You will have them queueing up to join Spode's Blackshorts.

I just like the idea of a dozen posh thickos, after a good lunch, turning up to a field and agreeing that it would make a great golf course, and they would all become members.

And then asking what on earth is golf?

I can see the humour in it.

We also have the added interest that at the first competition, more people were interested in watching the barmaid from the local hotel, who was a bit of a stunner and was caddying for some Henry, than the golf.

Once again I opened a thread full of hope and expectation, only to be disappointed. I thought that @Wight Flight was about to sell the movie rights to his diaries.... It’ll be like the movie Caligula, but without the politics or other clean bits...

I am totally unqualified to write a screenplay. It would just end up as a stitched together load of plagiarism.

Why reinvent the wheel? What you have described pretty much fits for most new films.

Cliche away!

My wife is writing various scripts, I will suggest this to her, cheers.

If anyone else wants to have a go there are various free scriptwriting programs available, Trelby is one. The industry standard is Final Draft which is only $80 to buy, and may* be available through other less legal means. It's perfectly possible to do it in a standard word processor, but the dedicated programs make it easier to format it in the approved style.

Do I count as a teacher? What proof of teacher status do they need?

Sorry no idea, my wife isn't a teacher! She might* be using a copy she didn't pay for. She did however pay for a program called Fade In, which is much cheaper, something like £15.

Does she find it easy to use?
I'll have a look at the videos they have on their site. Assuming they're not just sales videos...
