It isn't that easy to ignore care homes.  I've looked after both my parents and then just my mum (both with dementia) for the last eight years.  A couple of months ago my mum fell in the living room,

So........i've volunteered for the vaccine trials for Covid-19 which apparently were made by a Russian Pharmaceutical company 😳. I  received my first shot and wanted to let everyone know that it’

I think this is not quite true, but it is the key thing in all of this. I would like to see a more detailed comparison, but the impression I have is that the new disease is about 3 or 4 times mor

Think the vaccine needs to be let through now... Surely so much riding on it.  Markets rise etc on any positive news.  It's an end in and of itself, even if not that effective.  We just need to play along and let pharma get some lost monies back?

I'm off the bill vulnerable list so at least feel I won't be first guinea pig in line.

One thing that i don't understand and been brought up here lots is why no kind of push has been made to let those already infected back out into the wild or studied harder.

I know some of the vaccine tech is new but surely a lot of them are still based on the idea that once you are exposed or infected your immune system builds the memory to limit likelihood of future infections.

Since the start it's sounded like that long term immunity is not really a thing with this anyway... Although don't know how much of that is based on the idea of second strains or mutations.  Maybe it will all just Peter out though after a few years... And after society slightly changed, debt restart etc.

Wonder if a real big bad bio weapon -if this isn't?- comes along and we are left floundering as too many immune to government fear or crying wolf syndrome.

For starters those in power really need to keep there lines together and try their best to show like they are serious. That idiot SNP woman who didn't quit or all the other bods like Ferguson need to crawl away... At least for longer than a few days

Unless I am reading this wrong, you now pay more to go to Wales.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8872201/Welsh-Minister-Mark-Drakeford-snaps-criticism-firebreak-rules.html

Police checkpoints will be set up on a key section of the Wales-England border, officers have confirmed.

Gloucestershire Constabulary will stop people travelling into Wales and encourage them to turn around if officers “are not satisfied with their explanation”.

If people do not turn around, the police said it will tell forces in Wales so that they can issue a fine.

Who the fuck are they decide what is and isn't essential? Is replacing a broken toaster or Microwave not essential? Is getting a bucket to collect water from that leak in your Conservatory not essential?

I can maybe see the argument that if a hardware shop has to close, then why should supermarkets benefit.  I presume online shopping is available though for a leaky bucket.

Chill Lenny. You'll do yourself a mischief if you carry on like that.

I tried to offer those without bog roll a pragmatic solution to their "problem" a while back - and got slaughtered for the fucker...!

There's none so blind as those that can't see...

Our kettle broke days into the original lockdown and we still haven't replaced it.

It doesn't even look like they've tried to deploy precision by saying something like "substantially non-essential" like they have in England with the "substantial" meals allowing pubs to stay open.

It'll be a field day for the Covid Marshalls.  It is essential - no it isn't - oh yes it is - oh no it isn't - oh yes it is......

Also they seem to have been banning buying stuff before the lock down is officially due.

I think this is genuinely an outright lie. Not all genetic permutations / variations can/will occur.

Dr. Thomas Briese, Columbia University, further described GoF research done in the laboratory as being a “proactive” approach to understand what will eventually happen in nature.

I wouldn't us ethe word will

I'd use the word could

Any muations can happen although they may not survive

Leaks dont wait for Amazon deliveries, which also take away trade from hardware shops.

Its all utter bollocks. I wear my mask as required (lets not bring that argument onto this thread) so why restrict where i can shop? Does my mask only work in Food isles?

Utter fucking bollocks the lot of it.

I need to find something to smash up, let my anger out.

I find that puzzles like a Rubik Cube help me to stay calm.

Since this COVID shit started - armed only with a tube of superglue - I've turned several bags of frozen chips back into whole potatoes...

I brought some out of date pancetta lardons home from work a couple of weeks back. Daughter described them as a Peppa Pig jigsaw, which I thought was quite good.

Quoting the ONS figures when the PCR data fails to cut it. Despicable.

That's complete numberwang, the PCR tests are hardly conclusive and now they're just making it up with these numbers and the 'I definitely had it' reports from those daft enough to report themselves to the tracking app.

Watching the news or reading twatter comments not great either... Big divide and sometimes you agree with something someone says who is getting shot down but then see there also neo Nazi pro life whatever the fuck.... Opposite side is pro choice anti transphobe multicoloured unicorn.  Info gets a bit heavy and sometimes you despair.

News and twitter are very polarised and represent a few loud voices, the real world isn't like that. Yes, there are still plenty of people IRL that have been scared shitless by sensationalist or misleading  reporting and are driving themselves crazy with worry and behaving irrationally, but there are many more that are going along with the masks etc for a quiet life but don't really see it as a direct health threat but don't see new media sources and are yet to get fully formed ideas about why the official narrative doesn't seem to make sense. On top of that are the full on nazi far right extremist conspiract theorist granny killers like myself that do consume alt media and suspect there is some truth in the ideas being expressed and hold fairly well formed opinions. In some respects there are good reasons to feel positive about 2020 and there are increasing signs that the more moderate 'left' and 'right' are increasingly finding common ground as elitist attitudes and corporate corruption in government and even more so supra national organisations have become increasingly evident to anyone that takes an interest in politics. The anti lockdown marches looked very much to be a mix of apolitical and vaguely socialist and nationalist people, the kind of unity tptb have good reason to fear.

I was thinking today that, back when I was a sixth-former and undergraduate in the late 80s/early 90s, most of my generation simply would not have stood for this nonsense if it was dished out under a Thatcher or Major government. There would have been armies of Crusties and Hippy Convoy/Cidermen on the streets with dogs on strings trashing everything in sight. I even knew a girl who tried to get to China to 'help out with the revolution' after Tianamen Square (I think her parents stopped her in the end).
