It's fascinating to see how doctors voted on various subjects, and what topics are considered issues. The BMJ seem to feel polls on Donald Trump's health are important, and pre-CV19, 44% of respondents thought mass flu vaccination was pointless.

It has been an eye opener. Bloody excellent on the ground practitioners across many, many countries, sharing information and treatments, looking up the papers and making individual decisions, private sector in the US, presumably state in India/Africa - some of them seem to have done an amazing job homing in on treatments that work - look at the mortality rates. Corporate level and Academic and the supporting academic publication level- they come over as an utterly failed sector.

Thanks for posting, it looks like doctors aren't authoritarian but will they just like camp guards follow orders from above.

Why would a medic's opinion be any more valid than anyone else's (beyond their specific area of expertise*).

Even in the field of medical ethics (the Trump question referenced above), I'd go for a variety of 'opinion' including laypeople, religious folk, and, yes (but not only) medics.

[* which is their medical speciality.  Eg, GPs might know about 'viruses' in a general medical context, but if I was to consider an opinion I'd go for an epidemiologist or virologist]

Firstly I noticed how few votes there were. How many doctors are there in the UK? Is a vote where only 100 take part of any use?

Secondly the question re Trump's health was so badly worded that you can not tell what the result means! (Thought medics were better educated?! Or is it just me being thick?)

"Do doctors have a duty to hold their silence or to voice concern about Donald Trump's health?" 🙄🤔

Yes: 238 (29%)

No: 591 (71%)

Total: 829 votes

If Trump is evaluated as "mentally ill" , what percentage of the world's population is NOT mentally ill I wonder?! 🤔

Please, someone tweet her to ask whether she feels she has a duty to similarly clinically assess Biden.
