Comic Relief will stop sending celebrities to African countries after being accused of reinforcing 'white saviour' stereotypes

  • Comic Relief will stop sending celebrities to African countries for its appeals
  • The charity will instead hire local filmmakers and photographers for films
  • Stacey Dooley and Ed Sheeran come under criticism for their Comic Relief trips

Excellent.

British jobs and housing and benefits for British people.

Stop allowing African asylum seekers into the UK.

Id guess Comic relief send a handful of presenters and film crews to Africa each years. That appears to be a quiet day at Dover these days.

Perhaps they also need to consider not sending money. You can’t get more white saviour than free handouts. :)

Shame they don’t put the same focus on white working class boys who, the research strongly suggests, are the most disadvantaged.

I don't see this as a joke. If the poor performance of a group is supposed to prove that they suffer systemic oppression then the same argument can surely be made about working class white boys, performing badly as a group.

An argument that can and should be deployed against sjw's:

"What about the systemic oppression suffered by white working class boys?"

sjw: "What?! But they have white privilege!!"

"If poor performance by a group shows they are systemically oppressed, that must also apply to the poorly performing group, white working class males."

I don’t see it as a joke either. Study after study shows this to be the case but each subsequent report gets quietly dropped

there are a lot more articles out there   Why is there no outrage?  The silence on this is deafening

BLM and the likes can go do one when they talk about white privilege.

Another example of those who benefitted enormously from Comic Relief in kind - the by association that helped promote their careers in comedy, Film & TV - pulling the ladder up behind them.

Imagine the smugness of some of them today that this virtue-signalling affords them. Probably an excellent career move in a market which increasingly hires, as is factually the case with the BBC, a higher percentage of BAME on-screen 'talent' than exists in the UK population.

Rant over.

They are invisible.

On the BBC thread I posted a link to the Play For Today - Today Just A Boys Game which was essentially about white working class  life in Greenock in the 1970s. It is absolutely unimaginable that the BBC would commission anything like that now. Peter Macdougall who wrote it won BAFTAs and the Prix Italia back then but he has not had any TV work in years. The people who commission dramas just are not interested in anything that does not tick boxes on the current agenda or meet focus group requirements.
