Middling to well regarded town in the North Midlands. Certainly not the creme de' la creme.

So what do you pay for a 3 up 1 down terraced house with no front garden onto communal walk way?

450k apparently. Any worse examples?

Built on the remains of Cawdor Quarry, no front garden because the site slopes and literally drops off a cliff 5m from the front door.

Check out photo 23, you can slide out of the front door like a ramp on a skateboard park.

£450k for that round here? That'd be a bargain. As new builds go it's quite spacious.

*challenge accepted*

I'll raise you .What makes mine the £610,000 winner is it's postion on a main arterial road into leicester.I don't quite know hwo the EA has kept the A6 out of view but they have.

No wonder its the last one, its not even a whole house like the picture as there is no dividing line to next door at the front and the back garden, what there is of it tapers down to 4m/12'.

All yours for a cool £950,000.

Imagine paying a 3% ish mortgage on that wee house in todays economic climate just to live 40 miles from London.

Same thing anywhere else is less than 1/3 that price which begs the question, is the commute worth £600K?

Edit:- and yes, it is indeed built on an in-filled chalk-pit.

Most unusual to see a victorian semi with an asking price for a million squids.

Unless it was in london.

You could get the real deal in Blackheath for the same money and save on the commute.

I was about to start a new thread. Htb is ending March 21. To be replaced with new one for 1st time buyers only with price caps.

https://www.helptobuy.gov.uk/equity-loan/help-to-buy-equity-loan-2021-2023/

This will decimate the market. Take bedford. Cap is 407400. Lots of new build selling for upto 600k for big 4 bed. Must be 2nd steppers using htb currently buying. How can 1st time buyers or 2nd steppers buy come April 2021. Must be a new scheme in the works as this will not work.

The 4 bed version is 750k. It's not Surrey, it's mid Derbyshire. Does remind me of a Victorian urban factory complex a' la Edwin  Chadwick. The workers terraced cottages at 450k and a three storey mill with 4 beds at 750k behind.

Why is Matlock so expensive?

Looks above the level for the area to me. New build premium perhaps. Matlock is ok, if it was in the Peak National Park (five  miles west) ..Baslow, Bakewell area ,then the prices would make more sense.
