And yet another stabby murdering Muzzer in Canada this time

Recommended Posts

There's nothing from the authorities yet about the man other than he was dressed in medieval clothing - whatever that means.

There are people online saying he is muslim and that it was an islamic terrorist attack but there is no evidence to their claims. Lots of idiots posting videos of people in fancy dress costumes, editing them together with news coverage of this story and claiming that the video is of the attacker. Idiots.

Canadian authorities are usually slow to make any islamic connection. IIRC in the past they have failed to even connect terrorist murders with islam despite the evidence clearly showing it so. Wasn't our first Canada thread about this very issue in Toronto?

Quote

He said that the suspect, whose name has not been released, is not associated with any terror group, according to the investigation.

The man was carrying a Japanese Katana-style sword, Pigeon said.

The police chief said the suspect does not have a criminal record, but he did reveal five years ago in a "medical context" that he wanted to commit a violent act.

Pigeon said police currently have no reason to believe the attack was motivated by religious or political reasons.

If the comment about the perp being from one of the suburbs in the north of Montreal means, literally, that he's from Montreal-Nord, that could give a clue:

As an aside, the other side were referred to as 'Turkish'  O.o

It is worth noting that 'Turkish' (or Turkmen) in the 10th -> 13th century didn't mean 'from Turkey'.  That country hadn't been created at that point.  That region might have been called Byzantium (but as I understand it they would have called themselves Romans) up to the end of the 11th century, but was taken over by the Seljuk empire after that point.  They were 'Turks', in that they came from the region north east of Anatolia.

So, the Crusaders at that point might have been fighting 'the Turks', but they weren't fighting 'people from Turkey'; they were rather a people (the Turks) that had invaded from 'far away' and had taken over vast areas of Anatolia and the Levant that had previously been fairly peaceful (Muslims, Jews and Christians together).

Of course, the Crusades are a particularly messy affair that doesn't show anyone in a particularly good light.

Latest update from the CBC:

“Radio-Canada has learned that the suspect in custody is 24-year-old Carl Girouard from Sainte-Thérèse, Que., a town located about 20 kilometres northwest of Montreal. Quebec City police have not confirmed his identity.”

Very, very unlikely to be a ROPer with a name like that. My money’s on another sad inadequate twat like the van guy in Toronto.

Medieval sword fighting games are very big. It really would not surprise me if he was some gamer. Who else is going to have that kind of costume and sword? I can only think of re-enactment society members.
