Popped to The Range today on my way home from work. They were playing Christmas tunes, 1st November FFS. I picked up a few foodie items I wanted plus a bamboo tray. Got to the till and the g

Many people suspect this may be The Last Christmas.  They are not only determined to enjoy every second but are extending the anticipation. For my part, I'm going to cut them some slack.

Our tree went up today (because we only bought it in January and had no idea what it would look like - don't want to be waiting for the last minute for decorations and will be getting our daughter's presents sorted in the next couple of weeks whilst we still have a functioning economy / supply chain).

Don't worry, the tree went away again.

Do I need a dag.

Not one of her eight-hundred quid specials you don't. Life expectancy is about a month, and you'll not get yer money back.

The only reason she hasn't been lynched by local dog lovers is that the boyfriend has ran away to Carlisle with all the profits, and she's shifted all the blame onto him...

This generally raises my ire around this time of year. One thing I won't miss with everything being shut is all the crap in the shops. I used to love it when younger, but the commercialisation and two fucking months of it every year finished it for me a long time ago (caveat - have no family)

Kids I feel sorry for, everyone else masquerading as a grown adult needs to grow a pair and take a long hard look at themselves FFS.

Probably more like 4 for physical shopping.

Hadn't thought about that. This is why lockdown until start Dec isn't it .... how is that gonna work if everyone tries to shop in the last 3 weeks.

No lockdown for 3 weeks to get the christmas tills jingling then back under the cosh boxing day?

He's not the xmas elf after all just a fucking capitalist.

I quite like the way this one is decorated for Halloween though:

The word that stood out in the article is.....offensive.

I actually think the display is good and funny plus the creator has been developing and adding to it for a few years. It’s just a mediaeval interpretation he explained.

As for Christmas decorations I haven’t put any up for about seven years. Stopped sending Xmas cards around twenty years ago. Given my own two offspring cash for
around fifteen years. Only other cash gift is to two kids, great nephew and niece. I’ve enjoyed nice Xmas days with my offspring over recent years where we just have a chill out time, nice meal, go for a walk with no need for lavish spending or decorations etc.

I’m pleased that Xmas isn’t being pushed as usual this year however I don’t grudge people making the best of being told to stay home in short daylight days and cold weather. If decorating their houses for Xmas now does it for them well fair enough. Along with Xmas day festivities there is a lot of lounging about and drinking plus eating more. An extended Xmas day for many is my guess but of course it won’t do them any good health wise.

I really liked Christmas when my children were still young enough to enjoy the whole Santa thing. Now its just a bit of a nightmare with my wife panic buying shite. Christmas day is me cooking dinner for her family.  I only like it at about 7:00pm when I can eat crap and drink whilst watching some film.
