Banks set to repossess

A  leading property law firm says the government’s ‘eviction ban by the back door’ means many buy to let properties are likely to be repossessed in the coming months.

I assume the 'industry' will be asking for their bailout.

Even more ominously, the firm says that for many landlords, who are already entering month 10 of no rental income following the earlier eviction bans, these further delays could prove a bridge too far.

I really don’t understand how the government can expect private individuals to house the feckless for free.  Madness. Just madness

Dunno about labels but they are trying to strip any independence from the state from all of us.

You can always chose another state. Head east for freedom (but not to China). Or to Paraguay.

Free choice of course. However countries are also competitive on residence. Other options do exist.

You clearly don’t understand the concept of nation state and citizenship.

It is a desperate slide, around before Brown/Blair but put on steroids by them -- as the more people you've got dependent on the state, the better the Labour offering.  Sure, we're Tory now, but they have to play along as too many people are dependent (eg the recent feral kids lunch-money saga).

If there is hope, it is that the next generation* start reacting against this political blackmail, perhaps having a 'we don't want your f**king money if it means this' party (etc) (See Reagan's 'most terrible words in the English language).

But, as it stands, too great a %age of the population is on the government's teat for anything to change soon.

[*ie, not the Millennials, who are probably the worst in this regard -- take the money, give more to 'the deserving' (who usually aren't), ignore the downstream consequences]

[I'm actually rather hopeful that this move against gov cash will be accelerated by Covid -- so many people have been pushed into welfare and found that there's bugger all for them but can see that there's relative riches for people who haven't actually paid (much) into the system]

Well I have happily lived in three previous countries (outside of the EU) who were grateful for my presence. Currently planning for a fourth. For those with resources you can vote with your feet. Faster outcome than waiting for the UK to adjust its self destructive path.

It's amazing that the powers that be could not see this was going to happen.
In 2015 when Gideon announced the Section 24 tax it was obvious that landlords would not be able to bear the tax imposition without many going bust.
Add the latest fiasco into the equation and hey presto...the knock on effect is homelessness caused by an inept Government.
The sad part is that a few bad tenants will make good tenants and landlords homeless because the deck of cards topples.
When will people, banks, media, know it alls realise that the local councils don't have the stock to house people (that's another story) so they are heavily dependant on the PRS which has grown as a result.

Eh?

S24 was long overdue and just confirmed what shoudl have been in palce from day 1 - you cannot claim investment costs against tax.

IO BTL, the idiot crew, have had 5 years to get rid.

They didnt.

And they can still claim interest relief at 20% which no other investment offers.

Yes one of the criticisms of the migrants coming here to make a life for themselves is why didn't they try to fix problems at home first? It'd be hypocritical to emigrate to another country because of the problems in the UK.

The left will IMO soon put into place things very recently seen in the US election. (I think they already did in one or two by-elections like Peterborough) - they'll have an army of people collecting votes from the feckless and lazy who can't be arsed to walk to the polling station, and other means of securing the lowlife vote, like door-to-door help to fill in postal vote forms.

All dressed up as helping the housebound disabled and elderly or some such bollox but really just a way of ensuring the scum vote for the benefits party. Allowing this kind of crap will always favour the left.

(I'm pretty sure this is mostly what happened in the US, though there may have been some cheating as well of course, let's see what Trump's lot can turn up)

I would move to a country that wants me.

The UK doesn't want me, or it would try harder to keep me.

I wouldn't then start demanding the host country changed to fit me. xD

Said it on the Trump-Biden thread.

The MSM have been writing off the Rep for years saying - Oh they are the party of old angry white men.

Hispanics are soon to be majority (Blacks have lost it. They had their chance, now they are another minority  - an ignored, whingy one. Blacks now have to step up) or die out).

Its turns out that Brown yellow n blaclk people are also angry about the same sort of thing.

Most Brits abroad would want their host to change to suit them, especially with regard to language.

In my experience the Brits are the only people who go to someone else's country and consider the inhabitants to be foreigners.
