Don't they understand that local government officials taking a bit (lot) of cash for building deals is part of our cultural heritage?  If they're going to start taking the law literally it'll decimate

THE Mayor of Liverpool has been arrested today on suspicion of conspiracy to commit bribery and witness intimidation.

Joe Anderson, 62, was arrested by Merseyside Police along with four other men.

They were arrested in connection with alleged offences of bribery and witness intimidation as part of an investigation into building and development contracts, the Liverpool Echo reported.

The construction industry was rife with dodgy deals 20 or 30 years ago. Cartels between builders to allow for higher bidding in turn, backhanders to consultants and also local authority operatives. Thought it had disappeared to be honest.

Yes, had a bit of exposure to local authority procurement some years ago, and a lot of it to some degree has been got rid of, but the fraud does still go on but a lot less widespread and small amounts (as much due to the corporatisation of everything as anything else).

I'll bet these jokers, looking at his age think it's 1990 and have been to brasen and that's why they got collared.
