OK, here's a riddle.

From a start point, I travel South 1km, then West 1km, then North 1km, and I am then back where I started. Where must I be?

There are two ways of correctly answering this; one is simple, the other requires a knowledge of geometry.

Clue 1: All the information you need is in the riddle.

If no-one gives the correct answer in 24 hours , I will post the answer(s).

IKEA.

An exhibition centre on the banks of the Avon?

That, up to a minute ago, was the rest of my answer. The line of latitude is 1km long at 1/(2*pi) km north of the South Pole. So, if you start at anywhere on the line of latitude ( 1+ (1/(2*pi)))

The North Pole is correct. But it would also be the South Pole.

No. The North pole is only a partial answer.

South pole is wrong. How can you go South from the South pole, and then go west?

Going 1km South from the South pole would place you 1km in the air above the South Pole. Going west from that point would be meaningless.

Is The North Pole technically wrong or just not the answer your after?

Difficult to answer that without giving more clues.

The 'simple' answer I mentioned is trivial, and I only mentioned it because it would be technically correct.

What I am looking for is a complete desription of where I must be, to the exclusion of anywhere that does not satisfy the question. So, for example, 'somewhere' would be too vague.

North Pole is definitely an answer

Strictly, part of the answer.  I could be at the North Pole, but not necessarily there.

So I must be somewhere in the set of all the places I could be. The North Pole is only one of them.
