POLICE: SERIOUS INCIDENTS IN KILMARNOCK - HOSPITAL CLOSED

Ayrshire Police, which includes Kilmarnock, said on Twitter that they are handling two ongoing "serious incidents" in the town.

One is at Crosshouse Hospital, and the other on Portland Street. These are closed off and police are asking people to stay away at this time, they write.

At 11:30 p.m., police say the incidents are not being seen as terror-related.

"The police are now working on three incidents that could potentially be linked. The first occurred at 7:45 p.m. outside Corsshouse Hospital, the second about 20 minutes later in Portland Street. The third was a serious traffic accident around 8:30 p.m., police wrote on Facebook.

They point out that it is still early in the investigation and that the areas are therefore cordoned off.

The Scottish Daily Record newspaper says eyewitnesses say that one female employee at the hospital is alleged to have been stabbed and that another should also be injured. This has so far not been confirmed.

According to the newspaper, there is a large emergency to the place.
