Iceland shoppers threaten to boycott the supermarket over 'disgraceful' comments about Wales

It is thought that the statement by Keith Hann was made in a personal blog which has now been made private. In the same blog, it is alleged he also said that the Welsh language sounded “like someone with bad catarrh clearing his throat”.

No one cares about what you pontificate about online. You just blend in with the noise - that's the best case. Worst case, you get fired.

Saw that and thought, witch hunt, burn the bastard, dox him to his employer.

Iceland is big in shitsville.

Fuck anyones right to an opinion.

The description 'someone with bad catarrh clearing his throat', irrespective of gender is actually how it sounds to the untuned ear of an outsider.

If you think about it, what has gone on reflects more badly on the Welsh than the guy who was sacked.

It is basically what Blackadder said in the third series. Are they boycotting Rowan Atkinson, Blackadder and the BBC. If all the Welsh speakers left BBC Wales who would be left? Nah, that trough is too tasty for the Taffia.

Cultural appropriation! Technically they can't sack him because er

Iceland Foods Ltd has been accused by the government of Iceland of engaging in abusive behaviour by trademarking the name of the country, and of "harass[ing] Icelandic companies and even the Icelandic tourism board" by pursuing legal action against Icelandic companies which use the name of their country in their trading names.

Historically, the Republic of Bejam had the same problem with them.

If he'd been a shelf stacker then fair enough but...

A corporate affairs manager or director is responsible for a company's internal and external communications, including public relations, government relations, public policy, corporate restructuring and determination of employee attitudes in a company, according to Management Today.

Well I am Welsh and I agree that he should have the right to say such a thing.

Just as I marvel that the English do not seem to know how to spell their own language (Welsh is phonetic spelling)

I predict in a decade or two, could/should/would have will be seen as archaic language..

Should be thanked for trying to explain how to speak it properly, although its more like the bit before the spit so not so deep down and any actual catarrh would be messy!  Speaking with something in your mouth is more your posh geezer's sound but I'll leave that to Waitrose to explain.

Good job he didn't try to describe the noise made by a Chinese woman sitting on a bus shouting into a mobile phone in Mandarin.
