Anybody got any insight? I'm thinking along the lines of having a fun account, to replace the betting as I'm getting old and find watching the FTSE more fun than watching the football.

There was once a thread on here about something called free trade, but I've not seen it lately. A googling pulls up a few options etoro, trading 212, but I've no idea where to start. I've no need for isas or sipps with this, just somewhere I can chuck a tenner or two on a few 'liar standing infront of a hole' miners or whatever wallstreetbets are using to try and mug me this week..

Metalheadz

I've used eToro for this kind of stuff but it's a bit shit. You are supposed to be able to use 5x leverage but they usually pull it when a stock starts to get volatile... e.g. exactly when you want it. I was trying to use it with the WallStBets madness a few weeks ago and 9/10 of the stocks I wanted had no margin available.

I have a trading 212 account but have only used the demo mode. Not a huge fan of the interface. Looks more legit though.

I have a freetrade account. They pulled the same trick as robinhood over the WSB stocks - blamed their FX broker IIRC. Disappointing.

A fair enough mix of stocks on the freebie, then premium account gives you access to a different mix. There's enough free to keep me interested.

They do a free share thing from time to time if you get introduced/introduce someone.  Could get lucky!!

I have freetrade and trading212. If you want a referal link I can give you one to either.

Freetrade is, as the name suggests, free to trade. ISAs are 3 pounds a month though. Decent platform but a bit basec.

Trading 212 is a bit nicer and has more options to use.
