Or to put it another way..... 220 new state of the art NHS hospitals (£100m each) 440 new state of the art secondary schools (£50m each) 880 new state of the art fitness and health cent

Nobody is held accountable in public office anymore.

I think we're seeing the end of the U.K as a stable democracy. This is basically theft and what has happened is that the key players are now part of the institutions that form the system. For example

They are giving out test kits to school children each week. Each box costs £40. Bought in from China.

Somebody has trousered a fortune.

HS2 cost (you know actual massive construction project) £100 billion.

We should not be using test kits from China. If they tamper with a few percent of them they can fuck our eduction system (even further).

Nothing compared to what they've done, and continue to do, to our economy.

Yes, that is true although our Government is responsible for a lot of that. My point is that we cannot trust anything that comes from China. Mix in some contaminated tests and a load of kids will end up being sent home. Might not be sensible tactically to create a load of obvious false positives. However, we cannot trust Chinese manufacturing to be of good quality either deliberately or accidentally.

The cost has been criticised by certain people, in the parliament. Doesn't get much airplay though. Somebody should be held accontable.

Your costs of services are way off.

Rather than each of your examples (£100m, £50m, £25m), the actual cost is £100, £50, £25*.

*£1bn, £500m, £250m after factoring in the maintenance over the PPF contract lifetime.

This is my fear for Australia and New Zealand. Our antipodean cousins and in bed with the mighty red, particularly NZ, who's dictator has close links with Tony Blair and other communists e.g. China.

I saw on Amazon Prime there is a documentary called "The new silk road". I wonder whether it goes into much detail on Australia's part in the "belt and road initiative"? I doubt it.

It has been a huge pile of money for something that doesn't make any difference.

All it does is provide information to make the disease look scary.

And identifies new variants much more quickly than other countries manage, so they're described as a problem in the UK so other countries stop British people going to their country (which probably already has the same mutant strain but the other country is smart enough to not look so hard).

Its not China screwing up our economy, that's our own people doing that.

Can't really blame China for our politicians and business leaders signing us up to one sided trade deals.

Yes this is the great irony - they're having to invest huge amounts to keep convincing people to be scared of covid.

Struggling to come to terms with this, can you give that figure in Olympic sized swimming pools, or journeys to the moon please?

Oh no- wait I think I've got it now :

A collossal waste of money. It's good that some are realising just what that could have bought.

Indeed, but I will point out they will all have troughed it in pharma shares and directorships by then.

Also I don't think kier is wise, although I would like him to be.

In theory I do..  except voters always vote for the same old “safe” parties because they are fearful of change.  Then complain about the people they voted for.  You can’t fix stupid.

The NASA annual budget.

For the cost of all of this we could have probably colonized the solar system.
