Looking at something at ''granular'' level... never heard this phrase particularly used prior to Boris and co using it in the covid briefings, now I hear some expert or other using it almost ever day.

Agree with @Long time lurking that its a good idea for a thread. A new coinage always makes my ears prick up now, if they say it once you can guarantee it'll be all over the place soon. Obviously planned well in advance.

We even get the contents of the press conferences in the day before they happen, leading to headlines like "tomorrow the PM is expected to announce x". And then the following day you get the same message again, "the PM has announced x".

Boris very pointedly said he would be cautiously but irreversibly raising a pint of beer on Monday.

Can't imagine we'll hear that one again!

It was ok for Elgar to have variations.

I've invented one after the weekend I had with a Covid Zealot:

Covzealot

I've hardly ever felt so angry in my life and had a complete meltdown/rant afterwards.  Some people are beyond help but unfortunately they brainwash their children too.

They were using that at my workplace years ago. It conjured up visions of kids digging in cat shit infested sandpits.

Socially distanced (as a verb, eg, is the crowd sufficientally socially distanced?)
Covid-safe
Masking (as a verb, eg, not enough masking in schools)
The Science (as opposed to just old fashioned 'science')

“Road map”.....

I never had heard this word until last year.

Now I hear it in different contexts every day.

"Deployment".........nothing is ever used any more.  It's always deployed instead and this has spread into common usage (deployment) for other things too.  I suppose it must be  because we are at war with the virus.
