it will be ok, i always need cheap AA batteries for the TV remote, now if i could wire in a tesla size battery to the tv remote then id never need to change them again. And could recharge the big battery with next doors electricity via a cable thru the fence and into their shed (fitted when they are on holiday).

Coventry now.

"Mission critical" plans have been submitted for an electric car battery plant that could create up to 6,000 new jobs.

Proposals for the "gigafactory" at Coventry Airport were first put forward in February.

Coventry City Council is putting forward the blueprint alongside Coventry Airport Ltd.

Steve Turner, from the Unite union, said the factory would be a "shot in the arm" for the West Midlands economy.

Backers say the plant, which would be 5.7 million sq ft in size, could attract £2bn of investment.

Wonder why councils neve go into the tech boom thing before?

We need to cut their wages, let them earn billions out in the booming tech sector.

What is 'mission critical'

What mission? Why is it critical?

Why not call it - Turbo-max plans???

If plans are passed, the site could be operational by 2025, though it would need investment from the private sector.

Nah, council can make the entire car itself.

Coventry makes vague sense - at least there is a possible customer (Jaguar / Land Rover) nearby.

Ohhh -

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-60066432

A firm planning mass production of electric car batteries in the UK has secured government funding for its proposed factory in Northumberland.

Britishvolt announced plans for the so-called gigafactory in Cambois two years ago, saying it would create 3,000 jobs.

The BBC understands the government has committed about £100m through its Automotive Transformation Fund.

Britishvolt also announced backing from investors Tritax and Abrdn, that should unlock about £1.7bn in private funding.

Could have been worse.

Aston Martin to develop high-performance batteries with Britishvolt | Autocar

Aston Martin - so not exactly one to take all the capacity they are creating

Brand new British electric company emulating a 'successful' hyped American company suddenly gobbling up all similar contracts around the country.

June 2020 First employees hired, with a focus on hiring first class, home grown talent.

And a British car making company known world wide for their reliability, or lack there of due to being hand made.

This surely won't be a massive waste of money like 95% of the other green projects.

If they've got a funding gap at this point then surely they're screwed.

Well, the taxpayer is screwed, because as far as I can work out the only money they've actually received is the £100m from the UK government.

Troubled battery start-up was unable to raise needed funding in time

Almost £2,000,000,000 in investments so far yet they 'need' an extra 1.5% from the Government to continue.. And they've already pushed completion back by 2 years.

This is important enough to place on their home page, I guess diversity isn't as big a strength as they thought, maybe kamala Harris can provide funding since they want to be political.

Looks like a quick legal scam, put in enough buzzwords and call it Green and you too can get multiple billions in investments by screwing governments and investors with your brand new company.

Started with £100 capital, registered as public company less than a year later.

Most of the directors involved in this company(There have been a lot in the few years its been open) have multiple other companies and there's a crazy amount of filing histories.

They also created 3 'new' 'BritishVolt' companies, I assume they'd be 'renting' the properties and services from the 'properties' and 'services' companies for maximum wealth extraction unless they are following John Lewis' business plan.

"One of the main issues hitting Britishvolt is that it is spending £3 million a month on pay after hiring almost 300 people, the FT reports, despite revenue not expected until at least 2025."

I assume the cost of everything, from housing to local taxes in china is a lot cheaper including life in comparison to the NE of the uk. They  have a lot of rare metals and cheap fossil from the neighbour. I don’t think they have to spend a reported £2.5bill on international guests staying.

Is a British volt different from an American volt like a US gallon is different from an Imperial one? If , which is used internationally, surely an important factor for a manufacturer of car traction batteries?
