Put an ex soldier in charge of the nhs ? Like what the fuck experience does he have in medicine. This is the UK's problem in management, the arrogance to think you can manage a highly specialised area with no expertise or knowledge at all.

A particularly British thing.   It's called "the gifted amateur" and has served us well over the centuries, or so they say.  How else could 75% or whatever of Oxbridge get into these position given what they've studied!

Surprised he isn't posted more here, as he's on the money for this site.

But basically, the worse the NHS gets, the more the wealthy & healthy move to private health care, with the physicians following them as they make more money dealing with easier clients.  All leading to a low quality patient and and low quality care death spiral in the NHS.

Best breakdown of the situation that I've ever seen - excellent video deserving of it's own topic.

The takaways IMO are to become, as much as possible, your own doctor.

Investing in your own health by buying healthy foods, don't get fat, even doing things like monitoring your blood glucose to make sure the stuff you eat isn't pushing you into diabetes. This is every bit as imporant as your monetary/asset 'wealth'.

Basically you don't want to get sick if you can avoid it, because in a country where most are doing everything they can to make themselves sick the health service won't be able to afford to look after them all and will collapse.

I particularly enjoyed how frank he was with the assertion that we are encouring the stupid and unhealthy to breed. I see one hambeast after another waddling around the city with a young child, women who are morbidly obese at a very young age and think not only 'who actually fucked that', but 'how on earth is this person going to make it to old age'.

The Grey Man

GPs and staff complaining of undue pressures, growing pressures, staff leaving due to abuse.

The Klingon was a genius appointment.

What a mess.

Get your jab your lazy slackers or get another job. To paraphrase rugger head earlier today. They might have had a vaccine I dont know.

They are leaving though. Or sickness leave. Or retiring early.

Might wake a few more up to the realisation of a national covid service and recruitment portal for facial recognition cards.

More temporary visas anyone?

They need to pass the buck a bit harder. Must be careworkers cats at fault.

Mind might be just a smoke screen to justify the new NHS reorganisation and power to head south and central.

Wow. Had to phone 111 and NHS seems already overwhelmed going judging by the recorded messages in there. Keep healthy !  Managed to get the doc telephone appointment. but I imagine accident and emergency departments will be getting overwhelmed soon?

NHS infected with leftism.

Tories know this and are giving it enough rope. They want it to collapse.

Just like the lefties did with the banking sector but in reverse, in my opinion.

  • 2 weeks later...

They are launching the GP rescue plan. Personally mine is voice appointments only but I got to speak to a GP atleast. As I experience the 111 is totally swamped . I can’t personally see the NHS holding together like this

Apparently just the normal winter payment to GPs but rebranded as something special.  Wank-wank.

GPs want to demormalise face to face, instead preferring phone appointments.

'We need to get away from this emphasis on face-to-face'

GP Rosemary Leonard has been telling BBC Breakfast there needs to be less emphasis on face-to-face GP appointments.

Dr Leonard says there are 2,000 fewer GPs than there were five years ago and "there isn't the workforce to see everybody face-to-face".

She says: "I think a lot of people have forgotten that pre-pandemic if you rang to try and get through to your GP to get an appointment you wouldn't actually be seen for two to three weeks. So actually having a telephone appointment within 48 hours is actually a lot more efficient."

Dr Leonard says "we must get away from this emphasis on face-to-face" and focus on a "mixed way of working" so patients that need to be seen can be seen and GPs can help those who don't need to be seen quickly.

Talk about shooting themselves in the foot, nowt stopping it being outsourced to the third world where many doctors are imported from, while brit doctors want to take calls from the golf course. xD

Some things can be done over the phone. Asking for a referral because of an existing (previously seen) condition.

The argument that the phone appointments take as long as a real life on because you have to verify the patient's details is interesting. But perhaps you could have cheaper staff lining up the calls for the doctor.

Also phone consultations can eliminate waste by doing away with fixed slots. Doctor can wrap up one consultation, then move straight to the next.  I'd much sooner wait at home, than in a surgery waiting room.

Someone setting up a telephone GP service from abroad could make a mint.

I read of a pox clinic doing that. American guy had something suss on his ballsack. Sent a pic to the clinic and got a diagnosis back within hours. A lot cheaper than using a regular doctor.

Good idea. Set up a premium phone line and use Dr Google to do the diagnosis. xD

As above, ask for more photos if from attractive people, or webcam service for the full experience. xD

The scary thing there is that most Brits don't even pay that in tax.

No wonder the economy is buggered.
