Fancy getting into metal detecting. Something I wanted to do since a kid. Don't really fancy dumping £300 on a detector though. Would this £100 job from aliexpress do the job? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32860158818.html

Do you need to go on organised hunts or have deals with farmers? Was thinking of just going off the beaten path in National Trust woods etc where you'll never see anyone...and if you find anything...well...fuck the NT.

This won’t end well.get a used detector or borrow one first the hobby might not be for you .the beach is fair game ie no permission you need permission on land you can join a club find a friend if you get caught in a Forrest or anywhere without permission you could end up with a conviction for going equipped for theft .

If anyone is interested in a better one the advice from the experts on another thread was the decent / best ones are:

XP Deus £600

Minilab Equinox 600 (£679) or 800 (£879)
