Hambanks

Branksea road, Hamworthy is dubbed "hambanks" by the locals. It is a waterfront road with houses looking onto Poole harbour but back in '37 you could buy a plot for 90 quid. It is a kind of Sandbanks for poorer folk (ie millionaires only). A lot of the original houses are being knocked down now with new more "modern" shacks being put up.

Like Sandbanks itself those look horribly vulnerable to tidal surges and storms; it's flat as a pancake and right by the sea.

Per another post relative sea level rise, combination of land sinking and sea rising, in the south looks to be about four inches in the next fifty years so there are no immediate concerns but the climate models (I know) forecast its accelerating thereafter.

If you believe those models then those houses may only be good for 75 - 100 years before flooding on every high tide.

The Miami appartment block which collapsed looked to have been built very close to the sea.  Personally I would be wary of buying too close whatever the view was like especially if it's a flat in a block.

earth's magnetic field will have broken down and/or reversed by then plus we'll probs get hit by an X-class solar flare which will take out all electronics on that side of earth (it'll be so destructive cos the magnetic field is failing)

So the message is, don't worry unnecessarily :)

I always remember someone saying that to experience a meteor impact the size of the one that knocked out most life on earth in the Younger Dryas event was probably about twenty seconds from noticing something odd and glowing in the sky to KABOOM!

ah yes but there is debate now that it might not have been a meteorite but in actual fact the magnetic poles reversing!

And that's why there is an Alien base in Antarctica
