David Davis for PM?

Recommended Posts

Theresa May has now failed to my mind.  Stupid invented policies lost her the Commons majority in the snap election and that speech in Florence is the end.

David Davis is apparently interested so why not?

Jacob would be entertaining but I can't really see it, and I don't trust Boris or Gove.

Why not? At least we'd get to find out whether DD really is in favour of Brexit or whether he's some sort of Vince Cablesque mouthpiece who specialises in saying the right things and then doing absolutely jack shit to support his supposed views.

At the moment I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

As for May, whether she's failed or not depends entirely on your perspective. I'm sure there are several hundred people in the commons who think she's doing an absolutely stellar job of it so far.

Is his alleged stupidity and lazyness a problem, or an asset?

Alleges Dominic Cummings who was special advisor to the arch schemer Michael Gove whom may see himself as a PM contender.

I don't think it matters who is ruining .. I mean running the brexit negotiations as leader of the torys.
The labour lot are about to implode for not debating and voting on it at their conference.

Be quiet.

EU is forbidden.

Approved topics for the conference:

'How good is Jezza;

'How Jezza will save us all'

All other discussions are splittists and traitors.

David Davis is anti-EU and pro civil liberties. I would (almost) certainly vote Conservative at the next election with him in charge.

Yes but thick, vain and would still be leading a party of mainly Remainers.

The EU divides all the main parties, they would have been better off appointing a cross-party special cabinet to handle Brexit made up of Leavers only. Remainer MPs/ministers can't bring themselves to implement it properly, they feel the referendum reduced their role (which it did, of course).

With the aim of increasing their role in the future.

You have nailed Cable there perfectly. A career doing absolutely fuck all.

Yes he strikes me as being thick as pigshit, vain and petty. Surely they could find someone better?

Of course he is vain, all politicians are.

I like Davis, he is a genuine Brexiteer, wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Grammar school educated, worked extensively (and successfully) in the private sector, and genuinely believes in a right to privacy from the Nanny State. I can't think of any other MP who ticks all these boxes.

I very much doubt he is thick as pigshit, if you read his back story, it is obvious to me he is highly intelligent.

I'm not convinced any of these council estate social climbers bring anything to the party.

Much prefer next leader to be a genuine posh millionare Trumpian as ultimately they service the needs of the poor better.

I'm bored by Davis by time he's halfway through his sentence.

Zac or Mogg will do for all their faults.

You may be right, haven't read his back story, he just gives me the impression he's terribly concerned about how everything looks, including his hair, and a bit lacking in substance - this isn't something I normally associate with high intelligence.

He's probably the best of the very poor options available, unless they find someone from "left-field" as they did with Major (IMO the best PM in my lifetime) but it'd be nice if he was a tiny bit likeable, he strikes me as the type I visualise in meetings at work as puffer-fish.
