I kid you not.

Quote

The 69-year-old is attending Swansea University’s Bay Campus to receive her doctorate, and will then unveil a commemorative stone to mark the renaming of the College of Law to the Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law.

University vice-chancellor Professor Richard Davies said: “We are honoured to present this award to Hillary Rodham Clinton, a figure of enormous international significance, and one synonymous with human rights.

“It is tremendous that she has chosen Swansea University for her first public appearance on this visit to the UK.”

Ha!  They probably asked her if they could name it after her 12+ months ago, thinking that she'd be president...  Instead they've named it after a sore loser.

A great irony as well -- Swansea Uni was always a place students would go if they'd not done well enough in their exams to secure their first choice...

I had a couple of mates who went there as first choice because they could keep surfing.  They enjoyed it even if it didn't look great on their CVs.

Time to tie it up with the public schooling thread. I used to work with someone who went to Swansea Uni after having gone to Reading (Abbey?) School.

He got just about the worst A-level results in his year (combo of As, Bs and Cs). He now works for some hedge fund in the city.

I thought she was famous for human wrongs - bills, hers, her brothers, and her helpers cantkeepmypantson hubby!

Shes pretty awesome at getting alledged rapists of 12 year old girls off the charges.

Thry should make that a case study for 1st year students with a notion to becoming defence lawyers.

I'm not sure they're fully representative.

I had a friend who went there; attempted suicide within the first term.  He cheered up immensely when he left.  He wasn't fully representative either.

[although, to be fair to Swansea, he was at the old campus]

More like Hillary Rodham Clinton's school of how to completely disregard the law and get away with it.

Lesson 1: Be really rich

Lesson 2: Have the right friends

3: Buy waterproof cigars.

I did a one year Computer Science Msc conversion course at Swansea as they were one of the only universities that did it at the time.

It was utterly terrible in every way, for example the course "notes" were just random  pages photocopied from text books and given out with absolutely no relation to each other. Out of about 80 people I think I was one of 8 that actually got the Masters in the end.

The town was alright though and there were loads of attractive girls at the university so it wasn't all bad.

Couldn't make it up could you, just like a daily mash headline.

That proud defender of human rights when she's getting paid a fuck load of money, so lets see how the war mongering bitch stacks up with human rights - taking lots of wonga off that bastion of human rights countries, Sauda Arabia, laughing and joking whilst that child rapist got off (granted she couldn't turn down the case but she didn't have to be all joking and laughing, utter fucking scum shit of a human being), Benghazi, warmongering all over Syria, going gung ho for Iraq invasion (other politicians went along with it for reasons such as political expediency, realpolitik, Killary was cock a hoop gleeful about it. Remind me how many hundreds of thousands of iraqi civilians died).  How was the Clinton foundation doing in Haiti too? Soon got out of there when questions where being asked about the money and where is wall going.

She's fucking evil.

This is on a par with Henry Kissinger receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.

Indeed. And Tony (B)liar getting a position as middle east envoy ...

When I went to uni, if anyone had said they were going to some shitehole like Swansea you would have just gone wtf.  At least Cardiff is a decent uni.

There isn't any mention in the Wales Online piece detailing how much the Welsh Assembly Government are paying Mrs Clinton for her speaking appearance, it"s normally a couple of hundred thousand $ - maybe it will be disguised as a payment to cover expenses.

Time for an FOI.

Must tweet Welsh Govt Education Assembly Member Kirsty Williams about what steps she is taking to stop this, if she condemns Katie Hopkins...

Will there be a statue ?

Expenses + a donation to the charity.  You won't find both unless you look very hard

This just cropped up on my local paper's website:

The only news article I can find online recently - and these two stories might NOT be connected in any way whatsoever - is about a woman screaming for help from a vehicle in Bradford.

I started a thread about this chap -  Hamza Ali -  when it was first reported that he had exposed himself in a residential shopping centre in the West of Swansea.
However, as I was unprepared for his defence plea, I think it deserves its own newer thread.
Apparently he was trying to replicate bits - no pun intended - from a pornographic film. Despite the magistrates being concerned by his “total lack of remorse or understanding” about the seriousness of what he had done and the impact on his vulnerable victims, they sentenced him to just 15 weeks in prison sentenced for 2 years.
