Free Technical Analysis software?

Hi Everyone,

currently teaching myself TA and using ProRealTime software but a) I find it a bit non-intuitive, and some facilities are restricted. Can anyone recommend another free package?...it doesn't need to allow automated/planned trading, but needs to be clear and have the basic tools that would allow me to practice/apply my learning.

Thanks

A charting package?  TradingView is pretty much the gold standard, or at least one of them.  I think it's a bit free but IMO a sub is indispensable for regular serious stuff.  Web, Android/IOS or desktop app.

A learning package?  I got a free course on a dvd from one of the spread betting companies back in the day.  Plenty of websites available.

Automated/planned trading is not really TA but the ability to back test is useful if you go to that level of detail.  Again, TradingView does this (offers the Pine programming language).

I use TradingView but keep it relatively simple on the TA plus it provides the company fundamentals (financials) I also need.  Also a stock+ screener which is my thing.

MT4 you can open a free demo account and stick as many lines and indies on it as you like........til you realise most of em won't help you lol

Study 1 or 2 markets and get to know them REALLY well.......pick very liquid markets :)

@MrXxxxdid you persevere with ProRealTime? It runs native on linux and if you have an IG account you can use it for free.......bonus is that it takes up very little resources........I now think it's winner winner chicken dinner compared to shitty old MT4 actually lol

Yes I did, and as long as you are happy with 'end of day' prices and not having all the 'auto trade'/'Auto stop loss' features its very good for free software; I don't have an IG account. As for MT4, as a free version it isn't a 'scratch' on PRT.

Also, whilst I have your attention, did you get anywhere with the travel issue on Stealth?
