rammed up the RS

I know this should go in motoring but any old tom dick or m i 6 member can read that stuff so I'm posting in here :P

what does the dosbods collective think about a Vivaro that's been rammed up the arse? lol

I've bought 'written off' cars before just never a van......I'm ok all long as she doesn't drive sideways...

it's a well known auction site so you can't 'try before you buy'...doesn't look too bad to me...risk it for a biscuit for a camper conversion?

Snake Plissken

Hard to say how much damage there is, looks like the doors are not shutting, is that the doors problem or the chassis bent up. Don't they give you anything more than that ?

Check the distance between the edge of the tyre and the wheel arch is the same on both sides. Then if it has any chassis damage will behind the back axle and mostly cosmetic. It may be weakened but unless it gets hit up the arse again it will be ok.

Exhaust may be split, crash structure bent but they're usually a bolt on item.

Most of the damage seems to have been via the ladder so it could just be the door, back bumper and crash structure. All probably available from breakers.

If cosmetics don't matter the bit of wood method will do fine.

It's a van FFS, it'll never be pretty.

Check if it's been written off by the insurance, and what class.

Some write-off classes cannot be put back on the road, if this is one of the "sold for parts only" classes it's pointless buying it.  If it was settled for cash or is a light repairable class you're ok to put it back on the road.

Damage looks very light, expect rust in the seams around the back end in a few years where the crash cracked the paint sealing the joints.

It will be fine but sadly you'll still be left with a Vivaro

it's a Renault Trafic clone and if it has a 1.6 biturbo engine they go well.....

All classes save A can be put on the road - but its all about the value. Many previous discussions on T'interwebs about it. You'd need a specialist insurance for your Cat B though :) You'd also need a waste carriers license to buy a Cat B.

BUT, word of warning, the categories are BS... I've had 2 Cat Ns which had structural damage and should have been Cat S. Copart are fairly well known for it.

It’s getting on for a quarter of a century old and nothing I’ve driven in that class drives better and I’m pretty sure I’ve driven them all including the supposed all new ground up Maxus Deliver 3.

Is this Copart as I’d be concerned if that damage really is the reason for it being there and not something expensive mechanical or electrical.

Low roof will be a pain in the neck for a camper, maybe?

i've thought about this a lot and I think most folks approach is just weird or plain wrong.....

if you're a pair of old gimmers who just like to spend silly money on a camper cos you sit in it most of the day on your fat arse and invite other equally fat old gimmers around drinking coffee and bragging about how much you spent then yeah...

I'm more flexible, I mainly see it as a means of getting from A to B and doing most things outdoors including shitting, showering and even cooking.....in Europe it doesn't actually rain that much or if it does it doesn't last that long!

I prefer this sort of cooking setup ie swing out arrangement is really cool.........I quite like the pop up roof arrangement too

this should start at the right time.....

that's a 3rd gen (well the Trafic is that the Vivaro is a clone of) they came out in 2014 but yeah I agree it's a very good drive, car like even, that's why I rate em so highly

Why would you import that to France out of interest? I'm assuming that the cost of buying a French registered Trafic would be way less than a UK RHD.

cars have always been expensive in frogland, especially second hand.....

I did once buy a new Trafic over here, but only cos I got 1.4 yuros and that was back in the days when I used to have strange thoughts...

copart sell write offs and interestingly things can get written off for not a lot of damage eg led headlights can cost a fortune.......

you used to be able to get some right bargains from em but prices have crept up a lot over the past few years.....too much competition from pakis and poles and the guvment giving em too much money :CryBaby:

I knew that they were pricey before in France but i thought us Brits had caught up now with all the bennies furlough money driving up prices.

Surely it can't be cheaper to buy a Renault in the UK than France.

I currently drive a UK-spec Renault, and the sneaky French bastards have stuck a "fuck you bifteck" trap in the car for those of us who don't read the owner's manual from cover to cover at least once a week.

I assumed the right-hand drive model would be a mirror image of the left-hand drive car - with driver stuff simply being on the right rather than the left - which 99% of it is.

But then I ran out of screen-wash. So I bought a new tub of the magic blue stuff, and went to pour it into the reservoir under the bonnet - and spent 45 minutes tearing my hair out trying to find the bonnet release.

The dirty French bastards have left it on the floor near the door of the passenger seat, rather than move it to the driver's side.

Cunts cunts cunts cunts cunts...!!!
