How do you find a real Indian restaurant?

wherebee

Question

wherebee

My local indian just went under, finished off by the pandemic.  I liked them as they were Hindi from India proper, not the fake 'indian' restaurants I used to see in the UK that were almost always Bangladeshi.  They had some pork dishes and some which were obviously from their own family history, not just the generic stuff.

How do you work out from a menu if a restaurant is Indian as in proper Indian?  Any ideas?

I think the dish called "ghosht" was used as some sort of barometer.

As in if you see it on the menu your in an Indian indian.

I'm sure i asked a similar q on here not long after hopping on board.
