I know someone living next door to another of these at the moment. Theirs is getting lots of free stuff apparently as they take a tv crew to merchants with them.

TBF, a complete renovation like that is best done as a "rip it all out and start fresh" especially if no-one is trying to live on-site. Having to repeatedly lift the same floorboards for access is maddening.

The problem in this case (just from the article) is that 1) they only budgeted 15k for the works, which was nowhere near enough, and 2) they bought a lemon in need of a new roof. With those two mistakes made the project was already doomed before they even striped the first peice of wallpaper. I am not surprised that an abandoned renovation lowered the value either.
