Why the fuck is the fan still running?

Why?

Oh FFS- it's stopped now.

Why though, if it's not a warm day, and I've not been booting it, is the fan (radiator fan) running for minutes after I've switched the engine off and locked the car?

Do modern turbo diesels have build in turbo timers?

Worried.....

You've a bunch of micro-Jews living in your cooling system who are blocking your pipes with salt-beef.

DPF regeneration.  Nothing to worry about.

Because when you turn the engine off the temperature goes up in some places as the water pump isn't circulating the coolant.

The fan cools the coolant in the radiator which cools the engine by convection currents and in addition it blows colder air around the engine bay.

Usually the fan is switched by a temperature sensor.

That's odd considering there are many posts online wondering why their fan is running while the car is off.

A cooling system is needed on any decent EV sorry, you won't get away from coolant and fan issues.

As mentioned above it'll probably be a DPF regen continuing if its diesel or it was regenning before you stopped, you can usually smell it when it's happening.
