Third hand smoke

Recommended Posts

I'm calling bs on this.

woman on telly the So-Called BBC at the moment.

Saying that smoking around animals is dangerous for kids.

It apparently works like this:

  1. you smoke with animal in room
  2. take animal to mix with kids
  3. kids pet the animal
  4. kids then damaged by the fag you had half an hour ago.

anyone care to try and explain this scientifically?

Sound scientific explanation there. xD

agree. Why the hell do the So-Called BBC give this carp airtime?  It's almost as if they are trying to make everyone stupid.

Not to derail the thread into a BBC bashing, but having seen an hour of their Friday night TV last Friday I think the simple answer is that the So-Called BBC have completely lost the plot.

I assume nobody is telling those laboratory monkeys to pack it in, but sure as shit they'll be passing on their smoke to the lab assistants, who will then take it home to their children.

Absolute pish.

Pretty surprised that even the So-Called BBC in it's infinate wisdom ran with such crap.

I'd say the more pressing issue re: health concerns, is if Rover or Fluffy ze cat spends the day rolling in shit before being petted by the kids or (bleuch) sharing a bed with them.

I guy I know honestly reckons he got sick after sharing his bed with his dog. I pointed out that spooning animals is probably quite unhealthy - in more ways than one.

For the So-Called BBC I think they're thinking along the lines of homeopathy -- so the effect of the significant dilution of the smoke can be dreamed away.

But they've (of course) got it backwards -- they should have realised that the significant dilution of the smoke will actually be to protect against all the harmful effects of the smoke (cancer, addiction, raspy voice, smell, etc).  Presuamably, this is actually the real reason why non-smokers have a lower level of lung cancer (say) than smokers -- the smokers are actually providing a very low level, ultra diluted smoke which serves to protect them.

Or something.

They explained it using the word 'nicotine' being found on the pet fur.

Nicotine doesn't cause cancer. It's the other shit that does.

If you've ever been in a smoker's house and then smelt the clothes the next day you'll know just how vile they are.
