I have various free webmail accounts which google and the other feckers are making generally worse, wanting more info like phone numbers to authenticate, less compatible with mail clients, have ridiculous user interfaces etc. I am prepared to go through the ballache of migrating to another service and to pay within reason but would like something that is likely to retain the same address long term as I use it for small business as well as personal. Maybe a 'junk' one for online purchasing and a 'proper' one for actual correspondence. My parents are reaching the age where power of attorney is on the horizon and have unreliable bt email so maybe buying a family domain name and running email from that is worth a look. What say the dosbods tech experts?

We keep hearing that AI is making vast leaps in terms of machine translation but there are still some things that trip it up, depending on the context. I guess it is like self driving cars seeing a leaf as a pedestrian.
      From google translate today:
"mettre l'haricot en commentaires et copier la guerre dans le repertoire du serveur matou"
which makes almost perfect sense when translated into English (if you know that Matou is a Tomcat) but is total bollocks if you are French.

Advertisers are boycotting YouTube after it was found that their adverts appeared alongside sexualized images of children. It is estimated that there are 50,000 active paedos using YouTube.
A Mars spokesperson said: “We are shocked, shocked we tell you, and appalled to see that our adverts have appeared alongside such exploitative and inappropriate content."
Lidl said: “It is completely unacceptable that this content is available to view and it is, therefore, clear that the strict policies which Google has assured us were in place to tackle offensive content are ineffective, we are shocked, shocked to hear that YouTube is full of kiddie porn."
YouTube seem pretty good at censoring or demoneytizing Alt-Right content. It will be amusing if the world's brands demoneytize Google
