Favourite 60’s songs

Recommended Posts

British pop in the 1960s often worked best when it tapped into mundane  British life. The Beatles did this quite often but this deceptively simple song written Graham Gouldman later of 10 CC for Hermans Hermits is one of the best examples. Needless to say it will be incomprehensible to all millennials who will never have seen a milkman.

The Hollies Bus Stop is another example of an absolutely ordinary event within most peoples experience being used as a hook for a hit song. No surprise that it also was written by Graham Gouldman

And none did the English pop sensibility better than the Kinks who skewered every bit of their native home in their songs
