Cunning Plan

They all age so eventually need to be scrapped, best not to waste them.

I think it's an easy way of putting some distance between himself and Putin without actually killing any Americans or Russians; and entirely for the benefit of the home audience.

Having done this and bolted on a bit of flattering of NATO he can go back to a quiet America first policy.

What is Trump up to?

Is this just Willy waving?

Do these things have a use by date and it is easier to fire than decomission them?

Was it the most expensive way of killing a few goats ever devised?

Who knows?

According to my military friends they do indeed have expiry dates.  Yes indeed it is easier and cheaper to fire 'em off than decommission.   Trump didn't spend  money he saved  it.  Funny old world.

Yeah, its just a reminder that they can drop one on anyone anywhere they want even if you are hiding out in a cave be it natural or manmade etc.

If you're referring to the MOAB they just dropped, in fact they can't really drop them anywhere that they don't have complete air superiority, because they need to be rolled out the back of a C130, which is not a fast or stealthy plane.

Have a look at these two links which just highlight that other than accuracy how far advanced some of the stuff was that we/us/the Brits were developing in WW2.

On the other hand it shows how little some stuff has actually changed.

I have never heard of the 'Victory Bomber' until I saw the link in the article on the Tallboy.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victory_Bomber

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tallboy_(bomb) (12000lb)

It quite often irks me how the Americans like to rewrite history in their favour especially via Hollywood.

and then there was the Grand Slam Bomb

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Slam_(bomb) (22000lb)

a scaled up version of the Tallboy

Link says the US used these Tallboy bombs in Vietnam (removed tail fins and dropped via parachute) from C130's

One was used to blow a massive helicopter landing clearing for the 101st Airborne on Hamburger Hill

IMO it's best to try to live in the moment and make the best of each day as much as possible in your own "bubble". Although I do appreciate this can be very difficult if you have a lot of life difficulties!

None of us know what tomorrow will bring in this sickening world.

I just hope no one will do the unthinkable....detonate another nuclear bomb. However, they're available and no doubt one day it will happen again!

Here we stand or here we fall
History won't care at all
Make the bed, light the light
Lady Mercy won't be home tonight.

You don't waste no time at all
Don't hear the bell but you answer the call
It comes to you as to us all
We're just waiting for the hammer to fall

Sleep well tonight my friends. The time difference means that by the time we wake up tomorrow morning the world might be a different place.

Going by previous test times (8:30 - 9:00am local time) it could happen in 3 hours.  I might stay up.
