Lovely rural Scottish town with enough secondhand bookshops to whet anyone’s appetite. You’ll have to stop over if you love books!

You can even have a holiday running a bookshop for the owners if that’s you’re thing! https://www.scotsman.com/regions/dumfries-borders/wigtown-bookshop-which-doubles-as-a-holiday-home-a-hit-1-4571419 Fully booked up until 2020!

This is the biggest. Unhelpfully far away and TBH underwhelming books I thought, that would probably serve humanity better converted into egg boxes.

The one in Alnwick is Barters and I do swing by there, if I remember and am passing.

Bookbarn = Just down the road from me. Your assessment is pretty accurate. I use it occasionally. Staff are helpful and friendly.

I don't know where you are, but there is a good one in Cromford, Derbyshire.
