China has launched its latest crackdown against a phenomenon which just won't seem to die in rural areas - funeral strippers.  The Ministry of Culture said

last month that it was targeting "striptease" and other "obscene, pornographic, and vulgar performances" at funerals, weddings and traditional Chinese New Year public gatherings.

Link included for those who want to see pictures of these obscene acts..

Funeral strippers is definitely a new one on me..  sounds like a good way to draw a good crowd at you last party on earth

Any thoughts?

Bit unfair on the dead chap/chapess saving all the excitement until when they're dead

I might be persuaded to stage my death

That's hilarious.

I can't imagine it's epidemic, I always thought the Chinese were pretty conservative about that sort of thing. Back when I was in HK, boobs and bums on the TV, or anywhere else were very verboten. Maybe things have changed!

It's no less classy than your average gypsy funeral though. Let them crack on...as it were.

Not seeing anything there that I’d want to stuff a twenty in their garter.

Modern life eh?

“It’s not at all common for urbanites, but in rural settings, most people have seen these performances,” Moskowitz told io9.com last year.

Moskowitz added that “actual full stripping has gone underground because there were laws enacted against full nudity” in the 1980s. Nonetheless, the documentarian noted that “almost everyone” he had spoken to for his film had said they had seen “full stripping.”

The AFP writes that though some local critics have dismissed the practice, others say that it is a “traditional folk culture lacking in the sharp separation of sex and religion often seen in other parts of the world.”

Even when dead they won't leave you alone! :Old:

We had strippers at me dad's open-casket funeral last year.

He looked content with this.

The hospital said he'd drifted away painlessly with copious use of morphine - but I reckon that's bollocks...!

I think they actually had the poor old bugger maxed-out on friggin' Viagra...!

What evidence have I got for that..?

Well I can see that would stop him falling out of bed while under their "care" for one thing.

And that it took us fifteen fucking minutes to screw the coffin-lid down...!

;)
