New poll shows overwhelming majority want to get on with Brexit

Recommended Posts

Indeed. The ship has sailed. Even the most ardent Remoaner must realise that by now.

Of course Theresa the Appeaser seems to be steering a course that will tie us into being a vassal state of the EU whilst throwing overboard any advantage we might have had in leaving. For example she's going to agree to keep taxation and state aid rules in line with the EU and hence hand them a huge advantage whilst neutering us. Post-Brexit we should be entirely free to do as we please in that respect and should never agree to be bound by another state over such matters.

I smell betrayal.

We don't follow the state aid rules that closely now (unless they're being used as an excuse not to do something that the government doesn't want to do anyway), so that's just rhetoric.

I went to a state aid event for universities several years ago where the rep from the DTI said that we should take a "risk based approach" to state aid. Essentially if we didn't think we'd get caught, or that the consequences of being caught weren't significant then we should crack on.

This wasn't something off the record said to me in the bar afterwards. It was said in a speech to the conference!
