Gymnasts

Fucking hell. I'm in awe. Ridiculous.

The stuff they do. Just watched the blokes on the Pommel horse. :o

And it's one of very few sports where I don't think the burds play second fiddle.

And they don't get paid £400k a week for crying when they get a bit of a sore knee.

It's insane in close-up. The strength and power that goes into it is ridiculous. The burds are definitely not second fiddle, the acrobatic stuff they do would be impossible for the men.

Aye the blokes steer well clear of the beam for some reason. :Jumping:

The stuff they do on the rings. Incredible. What the fuck.

Pole dancing is similar, I find it enjoyable to watch.

My 54yo cousin is in some sort of pole dancing exhibition.

She keeps her pants on though, which probably breaks trade description.

It is quite literally a sport for little people.

Powerful bodies and strong shoulders allied to relatively short arms and legs

You won't find many tall gymnasts

Well my daugter's a gymnast at 10 years old and is nearly at my height of 5 2 already.

She's tall already compared to the likes of Simone Biles but she still loves it.

Well she is fighting against the trend because the average Olympic medal winner is just 5 foot 1" tall . Between 1980 and 2012 only 2 of the 8 gold medal winners have been over 5 foot

Can you imagine doing gymnastic moves? She loves doing them!!!

Sure she will be too tall for many comps going forward but still she loves it.

Dissapointed.

When I saw a topic called "Gymnasts" by ccc, I was expecting pure filth.

I went out with a female gymnast 25 years or so ago. She was bonkers and mostly unavailable due to spending all her time training but, my god, the sex was something else!

She was great in bed and unavailable the rest of the time? Sounds terrible mate... ;)

That's a very good point, and one that totally passed me by at that tender age!

Just about to say the Scottish gymnast Frank Baines is pretty tall but then searched and he is 5ft 7.

He looks big compared to the others. :D

Svetlana Khorkina is 5'5 apparently:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svetlana_Khorkina

I don't know what event it was but I spent a week of my summer holiday in 1994 (or possibly 1995) watching her and Dina Kochetkova on the telly. Perving over female gymnasts is presumably acceptable when you're 15?

Anyway, Khorkina is probably the greatest exponent of the uneven bars that has ever lived, certainly the best I've ever seen. Absolutely magical.
