Thailand - murdered?

Recommended Posts

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5596423/Murders-rapes-60-unexplained-deaths-Brits-Thailand-just-two-years.html

Wails done a story.

There are a notable number of deaths in the land of smiles.

Two people from my village have 'died' in Thailand.

One, my old baby sitter, who I have very vague memories, was killed there when Thailand was a very long long way away.

Her mam sort of shrivelled up and aged 50 years in 5 years.

The other one, was a bit of a dick - TELFer. He was found dead with his mate. Bizaarre. Dreadful for his parents who onyl ffoudn about it when one of the dead sons mates saw an article oon a thai new sight - included pictures of the guys cirpse - and contaced his Dad to say he was sorry and if there was anything he could do.

Although the guy dabbled, it was one of these two peopel dropping dead at the same time, then off to the crematorium and sent home as ashes thing.

But would you be happy with you 18yop daughter goign back packing i nthese places?

I would not be.

I used to work in Thailand a bit - contracting, not sex bars! never liked the place.

One, it was too hot.

Two, working with Thais - rather than spending money in vars and brothels - I just got the feeling they were dodgy nasty cunts.

People make the mistake of thinking they are just like us. When I say they, I mean any foreign country.

This applies to brits going there and allowing foreigners here.

We think we can behave abroad as if it is and extension of the U.K. and expect foreigners coming here to behave just like us and abide by our rules.

Pit leads to all sorts of problems

Ive never felt uncomfortable in:

US - v friendly. Sure there are hillbilly but all the merkins ive stopped inthe states have been really helpful. inc a group of gang members who escorted us out of compton.

Canada - same.

All of Westerns Europe. Sancis are bit grumpy utnil they realise you are nott from the neighboruing scanid country, which they  always hate. Even pariseans have been pleasant to me!

OZ/NZ - yes, Ik now they *used* to be brits.

Chinese - curious but not dangerous.

Japanese - really pleased to see non japanese.

india - some bits/middle classy bit, lovely. Poor people - cunts.

Fair enough but there are a lot that aren’t.

Example, a mate of mine who is Hindu (its relevant), her son in his early 20s decided to go to Dubai with some mates.  They took some legal high (not a clue)

arrested by gunpoint in the middle of the night

locked up for months without trial

taken into the dessert in the night, blindfolded, made to kneel in the sand, gun to head, threatened with being killed

tortured

my view, if he wasn’t Hindu, it wouldn’t have happened.

why would anyone want to go on holiday to a place that does that to people?

Well, less Hindu, more a fellow brown person.

It would have been less likely to happen if he was white.

It's pretty common for a lot of young people (and not so young) to get themselves into some deep shit when travelling around SE Asia. I've known a few myself, It's less common for them to die but it's not unheard of.

I think what a lot of people going there fail to understand is that westerners are regarded as ATM machines. Get into the shit and everyone will want their cut (this can include someone coming over with a bag of cash to pay off everyone to get you out). Randomly arresting someone for a 'crime' does happen, mainly to drain them of cash.

Thailand certainly isn't what it was when I first went there 25 years ago. Back then it was relatively untouched and people seemed genuinely pleased to see you. The last time I went it had turned into Magaluf, full of pissed up wankers in football shirts and fat sex-pests.

Would I let my daughter travel there? Only if she had her head screwed on right and was totally aware of what the score was. Even then I wouldn't be too keen on it, it's become passe, and when that happens  the dodgy fuckers flock to take advantage.

After my last trip, personally I wouldn't bother again. Which is a shame.

I seem to recall there have been cases of British men dying in suspicious circumstances in Thailand after marrying thai brides.

'Don't stand too close to the balcony' seems to be the best advice...

They usually manage to fleece the husband using the land laws and don't need to murder them.

If you read the link it lists a surprisingly large number of deaths were on one particular island, Koh Tao.  Google will tell you why.

I just don't understand why people keep going to it.  Hit them were it hurts in the pocket.

''But my requests to long-time residents and business owners were met with fear, as they made it quite clear they felt their lives would be in danger if they spoke on the record. Off the record, however, they told of an island held in the iron grip of a mafia family, who demanded protection money, controlled the local police force and were not above attacking or burning down the homes and businesses of people that crossed them. Having lived in Thailand for 12 years before moving to Cambodia, I feel qualified to comment.

Thailand is one on the most dangerous places in the world. I have personally known friends murdered and stories that would make your hair stand on end.

Koh Tao is especially dangerous and I would advise against any travel there or the neighbouring islands. I have worked there and am certainly glad I no longer do so.

That said, it was a fun dozen years and I would not swap the experiences gained for anything.

Even back in the 90’s, at a gangster run hotel/brothel I used to frequent in Southern Thailand, (it had a good restaurant!), it was fairly common for someone to be dragged out and executed in the fields at the back. All gangster on gangster stuff, no farang.

One memorable night, I got clawed by a bear in the restaurant. Needless to say, I was very very drunk.

I wasn’t sure whether to put this in here or the islamification thread.

the bloke arrested doesn’t look french to me, more like a gimmigrant.  Get European passport and rape your way round the world on it

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5601291/French-tourist-charged-raping-teenage-British-backpacker.html

A French citizen has been charged with raping a teenage British backpacker at a popular resort in Thailand.

The alleged attack took place on Koh Tao, an island that draws divers from all over the world.

The 18-year-old backpacker, whose name has been withheld, claims she was drugged before being raped.

Thai police identified the suspect as 26-year-old French national, Yohan Michael Tunka Buaga. He was arrested on Saturday and charged with rape on Monday.

Thew news had quite a long feature about how violent Acapulco Mexico is - heads in chillers etc etc.

Now. on the number of deaths of Brits and misc. young Westerners, I dont know why theres not a feature on Thailand.

This l;and of smiles is total BS.

remember having a good google when the 2nd kid from village was killed. The number of Westerns killed/murdered/strangely OD are shocking. Im not there are a published ste of figures - Thais is so bent they would be out by many orders.

An 18 year old British woman has accused him of drugging and raping her. Guess she could be lying.

I saw this story in the Bangkok Post last week. Was going to post it, but there were bigger fish to fry.

I can vouch for the story in that the victim is real and the "Frenchman" is about as French as I am. There are no strings of onions around his next, that's for sure!

Yes, it was the lack of stripy vest and twirly moustache that gave it away that he wasn’t a French man.
