Bye bye Amber

She was a poor home secretary -- a MiniMay, which is a terrible thing as her predecessor was also poor (or, rather, did the wrong things for the wrong motivations).

But she's not actually done anything wrong here.  Trial by media.

Question is, who'll replace her?

I reckon they'll try Mogg -- he's the main threat here, but he'd be poor as HS (bit of a poison chalice with May in charge).

Stupid chopping of a reasoanble Home Secretary.

What's wrong with having targets for catching criminals?

I'd call "foul" if the Home Office didn't have targets to which to work; not because they did.

Reasonable? She was appalling.

Treason won't appoint Mogg , they apparently don't get on.

You just can't engage with these idiots, just don't play their game. Never talk about it and never apologise. Just keep saying "and ?" xD

She should have just stood up and told them all to "fuck off".

Local gov elections on Thursday as well -- wonder how they'll get on now...

Only seen Labour signs round here so far. A bit worrying as it's a Tory stronghold.

Will be interesting.

Let's hope so. May needs to go.

Yvette Cooper, Jacquie SmithT, Treason May,  AmberRudd...

What do they have in common?

They were all aweful Home Secretaries.

Agreed. It was seen as an awful thing to do but how the hell do you run a department without setting some kind of achievement goals?

When deciding upon politics for a carees, Amber Rudd was undecided whether to join the Labour party or the Conservative party, she chose what she thought would be best careerwise. Looks like she chose wrong. She is loathed in her constituency.

She denied having targets even though the vast majority of the population want such targets....! Couldn't make it up.  A fake Tory, who doesn't understand those who vote Conservative.

Good riddance.

She could well be a fake Tory

In my dreams- Davis to Home Secretary, Mogg to Brexit head honcho!

They'd only turn out to be as disappointing as any politician you've previously had faith in.

The reasonable bit is wrong because:

  • IMO she didn't actually know about the targets
  • Even with targets the performance in this matter was dire
  • There were specific problems about encouraging the deportation of easy targets, rather than addressing the real problem.
  • There have been loads of problems associated with privacy and civil liberties since the time of May, but that have continued under Rudd.  Her only defence in this matter is that she was too useless to do anything about it anyway.

No. Mogg for PM, Gove for Home Secretary. Leave Davis where he is but with 100% support
